Why doesn't anyone love the adventurine Speedmaster?

I quite liked it on seeing photos. I quite liked it trying it on. Then my wife said it looked like a glittery little girl's watch and it somewhat dampened my affection (for the watch...I think).

I tried looking online to see if any other watches use a dial like this and one of the first things that came up was a Michael Kors women's watch with a fake adventurine effect dial. This probably would have worked better and sold more on the small women's Speedmaster's or even constellations.

I still love it though, it's like a perfect romanticism - moon watch, moon phase and star effect dial.

It is breathtakingly cool - and then you ask how much the black dial vs. aventurine dial is in a boutique... and it's breathtaking in another way.

A member here dropped their Aventurine dialed speedmaster last year, and had to buy a new dial ontop of the service cost... the dial was over £1000 alone from what I recall.

It was/is really expensive - twice the price of the non aventurine dialed variant from memory.

That makes it harder to sell, and whilst desirable, not desirable in the same way that you might fancy a Big Mac and grab one on impulse.

These two things, may explain why you don't see many of them around... as to videos on youtube... who uploads a video to youtube of their watch, other than a dealer who's trying to sell one, or Archie Luxury? ::facepalm1::

As much as I really want to buy one one day I don't think I'd bring myself to do it for that reason. While it seems clear from this thread that practically everyone who sees it loves it, barely anyone actually wants to buy it because of the cost or they never knew it existed. It would be an absolute nightmare to ever resell I think, attracting only a really niche sort of buyer.

I might just get the meteorite dial one some day instead, I love that one too but it's much cheaper and more well known.

The modern Omega is not a real piece of aventurine either - it's also a faux aventurine effect. The vintage watches are the real thing I believe.

Cheers, Al

That would be me...... Thank god for insurance. Sadly gets less wrist time now as a result and has turned into my favourite dress watch (despite the fact that it isn't a dress watch)

The Aventurine looks so much better in person than in a photo. Sooooo much.

It is difficult to photograph. But moving on your wrist in the sunlight, it looks wonderful... NO the hands are not red.. it is a reflection. It is larger than a "normal" speed master. 44.5 mm NLA from ADs !

The black is 42 and the aventurine is 44 isn't it?
I just remember seeing one in a pawn shop window in Manchester earlier this year and it looked big

It is a fantastic dial ranging from a light grey in direct sunlight to dark blue under low, indirect lighting to massive sparkle in point lights. Love it, get one while they last ;-)...

If it was the black one (which at that price I'd think it was), then it's 42mm - the Aventurine, and the new moonphases are all 44mm I think?
