Why doesn't anyone love the adventurine Speedmaster?

I recently bought a book that details every Speedmaster model produced and one that stood out to me in particular was the adventurine dial model. It has a beautiful effect that makes it look almost as though you're staring into a night sky star cluster.

There's virtually no videos of this watch on YouTube, nobody ever talks about it, you practically never see them for sale and it just seems completely unknown even though it only came out a few years ago.

Why such little love? If it wasn't such a large watch I'd get one in a heartbeat (6 inch wrists)

Big and expensive. There are a few floating around here on OF and always photograph beautifully (compliment to skills of the photographers, and also their choice of subjects). @Superdoc has one that always looks great when it shows up.

I have one and like it a lot. The dial ranges from grey in diffuse light through a dark blue to a massive sparkle in spot lights. One of my most loved ones which gets a lot of wrist time.

Were I to buy a modern Speedy, it'd most likely be this one. I'm also lusting after the coffin-cased Constellation with the aventurine dial from the 70s.

I wish I had noted whose this was when I saved the picture. It's my ultimate grail.

Its a great watch it just had a really weird introduction, where there were a handful of pics but no real detail or information floating around then the watch itself wasn't actually available for over a year afterwards and had changed somewhat by the time it reached market. I never got to see one in an AD or boutique so they were hard to find also, and seemed to be pulled from production very quickly. I think this is actually one of the rarest Pro models of the last two decades as a result though I have no idea what the figures are.

I'm going to take a wild guess that it is @Tom Dick and I feel the odds are pretty high for that.

This is definitely your chunky funky style, and if you end up with one.... dibs :D

Definitely one of the most beautiful watches I've seen in person. The dial is something else. If I could find a spot in rotation for it I'd love one.

Saw it at the Tourbillon boutique in Dallas a couple years ago. No matter what angle I tried, I couldn't make the dial photograph as awesomely as it looked in real life. It really is spectacular, like a field of stars. It's totally appropriate for the Moonwatch.

Could not agree more! It's quite a romantic dial! I think I've even told my non-watch loving friends about this one.

It was/is really expensive - twice the price of the non aventurine dialed variant from memory.

That makes it harder to sell, and whilst desirable, not desirable in the same way that you might fancy a Big Mac and grab one on impulse.

These two things, may explain why you don't see many of them around... as to videos on youtube... who uploads a video to youtube of their watch, other than a dealer who's trying to sell one, or Archie Luxury? ::facepalm1::
