Who wants to predict the future for Vintage watches?

My 30 something year old daughter has already informed me that she wants my Speedmaster and at least one other vintage Omega from my collection after I depart the Earth. In her words, “so part of you will always be with me.” I must have done something right as a parent. And women who wear Speedmasters are the coolest women on the planet. 😎

same here “so part of you will always be with me.” except my sons didn't' put it as elegantly or intelligently, just "cool;...when?" 🙁

谢谢你,你的观点?

谢谢,但你的观点是什么?你是否在证明中国有一个健康的古董市场,没有人说不是这样。

Thank you, but what is your point? Are you demonstrating that China has a healthy vintage market, no-one has said otherwise.

Did anyone here suggest that there were not serious vintage watch dealers in China? I believe the answer to be "no", which then begs the question: why would you feel the need to post evidence of the obvious?

Complete uninteresting stuff. China is finished.

I am not sure if it's because I haunt and stalk just about every vintage watch site I can find (mostly military and Divers) it just seems like there still is a strong (maybe re-emerging??) interest in vintage - more watchmakers, here in Australia at least, seem happy to take on the service and repair of older watches and we even have a number of watch schools teaching the skills and the fabrication of parts as parts supply dwindles - certainly more than a few in the US and GB among other places. Maybe it's a specific group of people who find the modern Rolex, et al., a little boring and the evocation and styles of the past present an opportunity for something different. I am still a big fan of the chunky monkey watches of the early 1970s, there are even Omega chunkies that remind me of Slade, I can just imagine Dave Hill or Noddy Holder donning a Flightmaster or a maybe a Speedsonic f300hz, pick your poison and your memory.

Because that's how state censors and the Great Wall of PR work? Our friend joined only after certain trigger words, not necessarily out of his love for vintage watches.

Sad to see that a good discussion is descending into what’s now clearly outright provocation. I’m not sure at all that @Omega wu was trolling.
There’s clearly some cultural misunderstanding.

He must have thought people are happy about China’s economic problems - even though the health of the world economy is heavily dependent on China.

"In fact, China is more open, democratic, and free of speech than any other country in the world."

At what point do the Mods stop this nonsense?

I think we have a very young collector too
Good point, the US and China are so intertwined it makes no sense to have hostility. I like what Warren buffet said when asked why he sold TSMC I think that’s the ticker. Taiwan semi conductor. He said the US and China keep making stupid moves towards each other and someone needs to respond to the stupidity with an act of kindness as things could get bad very quickly. We can talk of chinas debt but ours ain’t too pretty. Buffet talked about how difficult it would be to decouple from China at this point. Not impossible but difficult. It’s been decades in the making and policy put it in high gear. I believe Canada is a bigger trading partner with the US (we buy more stuff from them) but that tidbit of memory is old and it could have changed. A bigger piece of the iPhone dollar goes to Germany than China. Fact from memory could have changed. I think it would be cool if everyone could get together and greatly reduce defense spending but man has been fighting man since prehistoric times and I guess it won’t end soon.
Anyway vintage watches are cool but I’m learning from this thread I should go all in on model T’s. I’m gonna be rich. Like buy stupid watches. Thank you for listening.

Reddit is being hammered by the Wumao at the moment. I’m not saying this guy is, but he is suspiciously acting like one. These Wumao pollute online dialogue with wave after wave of strident propaganda. While their ranks are unknown and their precise inner workings uncertain, at least everyone agrees on their name: wumao, or 50-centers, slang for the 50 Chinese cents they allegedly receive for each social media post.

HIHI,😝😝
I'm too lazy to answer you. The administrator won't let me use vulgar language, so I'll let you go first. I would say: You may also be 50 cents, doubt....::stirthepot::::stirthepot::::stirthepot::

It would be nice to have some serious forum participants from China.
