I'v stepped into the interesting world of Movado. Albeit on the bottom rung with this fairly common, run of the mill Trans Atlantic Sub Sea 50. On researching the brand I have found they made some beautiful pieces though. Let's see them!

I owned on of those once, and they are nice watches.

FWIW, would say that yours is a redial.

Interesting Tony. Do you think the text too heavy? Its possible. I didn't pay very much for it so I cant say I'm overly concerned.

Yes, that is a primary "tell". There should be a dash linking Trans-Atlantic, and the lettering appears to be relatively crude.

I don't feel the lettering overly crude but I would agree the "dash" is a bit suspicious.

I do wonder when the redial took place if indeed it was. Certainly a lot of patina has built up over time. I like the watch though. The case is nicely designed and I do like the style of these 50s/60s gentleman's "sport" watches that are elegant and yet were robust enough for most pursuits. Where do you think Movado ranked in the watch brand hierarchy in the 60s Tony?

I'd suggest a search of the model, and see if you can find any similar examples.

The '60s was a transition period, but they were still making good quality watches. In previous decades, they were certainly above average, and their better models, especially the cal. 90/95m chronographs, and cal. 126 chronometers, were very high-class.

I wouldn't claim this as a great watch for everybody, but not only was this my first Swiss watch, it was also a gift from my wife. So I definitely count myself as someone "who loves Movado." (And yes, of course, I still own and wear the watch.)

Will always be part of your collection 👍

I'm quite fond of the brand myself and own several! Some incredible options out there, although I'm a bit conflicted about the somewhat recent rise in popularity vintage is having.

I have to agree with @Tony C. , your dial has been refinished. Nice piece to enjoy regardless!

Yep, they made some lovely watches.

I don't disagree that the dial has been refinished after looking at other watches. The dash between Trans Atlantic is a giveaway really. Its an odd one though. Has the patina been applied artificially I wonder?

I will enjoy it though. It keeps time well and I wear my vintage watches daily and and don't like being overly precious about them.

There is already a thread for Movado, even though I think the brand deserves all attention it can get you might find some interesting pieces already posted there: https://omegaforums.net/threads/movados.42414/

This is the only Movado left in my collection, althought I have had a few over the years this is probably the best:
