I dig and drive old Fords…pictured below is my old 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt GT which is my recreational driver, and my old 2007 Ford Police Interceptor which is my daily driver. I purchased both Fords new in 2001 and 2007 respectively.

I didn’t know you could buy the police interceptor Crown Vic new. That’s awesome! Was it special order or something?

I drove a 2008 black Crown Vic LX for about 13 years. Same v8 motor as the Interceptor, but different programming. Great cars for sure. Built like a tank and a heavy smooth ride. Thing would fly.

It was not special order…but was purchased new off the lot at a large Ford fleet dealership near Chicago. Here’s the story…in 2007 I initially attempted to purchase a new one at the local Ford dealership in Cincinnati where I purchased my Mustang Bullitt GT new in 2001. No joy…they said they could lose their fleet license if they sold to a private party. I checked with every Ford fleet dealership in and around Cincinnati…same thing…no joy. I expanded my search to Louisville and Indianapolis…no joy. I then expanded my search to the Chicago area and located a large Ford fleet dealership that had about 20 new Police Interceptors on their lot. They stated that they had sold to private parties in the past and they would sell me one off the lot. Joy!

LATE ENTRY: Getting my new 2007 Ford Police Interceptor registered at the BMV in Cincinnati was an entirely different story…almost couldn’t get it registered since I’m not a government entity.

Wow great story! Thanks for sharing. Out of curiosity, were they more or less than the “civilian” trim packages? Sorry for all the questions, just a nerd when it comes to interesting vehicles and Speedys

if I remember right…

heavy duty suspension and cooling. Special wheels. Heavy duty alternator, some additional wiring. Interior could be speced a few ways but the detective version I think is a standard interior.

The trim package for the Ford Police Interceptor was very basic compared to the civilian Ford Crown Victoria…however, there was what was called a SAP (street appearance package) that was an option on Ford Police Interceptors to make them look like civilian Crown Victorias.

Thanks, man…and here’s my original window sticker regarding how my Police Interceptor was equipped…my Police Interceptor was about as basic as you could get with only a few options. Mad Dog action figure and Hooters hat sold separately…

And the whole reason I got into the whole cop car thing was because I actually drove Ford Police Interceptors while on patrol as a Cincinnati Police Officer…what a great car…

great pics! Love seeing the original sticker. I started in a Crown Vic but they were already being phased out for the Explorer.

Explorers are known as exploders here in Oz, as the ones we got here had an appetite for transmissions under our conditions
And the Everests are known as ever rust!

2016 Subaru Legacy 3.6R….Flies perfectly under the radar. Aesthetically boring but what a competent vehicle. Excellent fit and finish…Zero rattles!

Audi TTS, 4wd, modified to 320 Bhp. Looking to upgrade but fearful the next vehicle might be disappointing compared to the TTS overall performance.

I suppose I'm classified as an old fart now.
So I just potter about in an old person's car, a small "SUV".
Dealer said it would suit me at my age.

At least it's got four zorsts 😁.

1960 VW T1 (1.2 42 cv petrol) - 2017 T6 (2.0 tdi 204 cv 4x4) - 2021 Touareg (3.0 tdi V6 280cv)

T1 does not run, its just for looking at.

T6 California is just back from a Clutch, DMF, EGR replacement & Gearbox service (price of a nice second hand 1861). It's a full camper with shower and everything (photos from delivery in 2017)

Touareg is perfect but bland.

I’m an old bastard and utterly refuse to drive an old people’s car…….and never believe anything a dealer says
