Who Does Not Own at Least One Quartz?

A couple years ago I sold a pile of watches at auction. Now I mostly wear my handful of Omegas, a small Rolex Sky-Rocket and my Baltic.

But I do like going into thrift stores and do look at watches.

Here’s my pile of working quartz. Not all from thrift stores, but most of them…

The Titanium Tissot was with the white Swiss Military. Both for $20. The Tissot needed work but I am glad I had it done. It’s a nice watch.

The G-Shock is my bed time watch. That light button is perfect. Did not look like it had ever been worn.

The Shinola was a gift from my wife on my first day of retirement. We are also big fans of Detroit as a city. It gets a bad rap and is always trying to overcome it. The Timex has a nice white dial. The Lacoste is one of the many here used by my wife. The yellow Casio is also used mostly by my wife. I have never worn the other Casio but could not let it sit at the store for $5.99. The blue dial watch is marked Eddy Bauer and screams 90s. The Coke and Pepsi cost about the same as a personal size bottle at 7-Eleven. Not that I would ever choose Pepsi over Coke… The Storm reminds me of that early 60s deep water Rolex with the exaggerated crystal. I added the sterling silver olongapo. The Seikos are solid. The one with the front pushers was bought here on OF. The others for only a few dollars. I have a fourth, a Bond Seiko that works but is being (hoping) repaired due to a non functioning pusher. The Freestyle looks like the Casios. I like the strap on that one. These were used by surfers in the 80s. I suspect that this one is only a few years old. Nice colour. And the Bills watch? High and left. The Swiss Military came with a metal bracelet and was with the Titanium Tissot. It was NOS. The bracelet is huge and would be loose even on @Bill Sohne . I don’t know how to shorten it so I am using this one piece strap that I made. The Swatch is unusual enough that I removed the battery.

So there you have it. A bunch of Quartz that I will enjoy for a bit, and perhaps dump a few along the way. Do you have some Quartz?

I did see a Quartz thread, by the way, but it appeared to be dedicated to Omega watches.

I own one quartz. My TAG 2000. It was the only watch I owned for almost 30 years. I wore it everyday, everywhere, through everything. I had it religiously serviced and when the movement finally gave up, I moved to Omega.

I do not own a quartz but I’ve been tempted by one particular quartz timepiece. 😗
If I had to buy a quartz I think this would be it :
Sinn UX with its oil filled case.
The ultimate tool dive watch in my opinion.

This is what happened the last time I attempted to replace a battery.

I like this tread, I think Durakir got it right; many cool watches for little money. These are my quartz watches.

Citizen Hyper Aqualand, Casio that I gave to a youngster that didnt have a watch and a 80`s Lorus.

Citizen BM8180-03E

I hope it’s not sacrilegious to post the so called “fashion watches” in a watch forum.
But this was my best watch and still one of my favourites.
This was a marriage gift, all my buddies from college pooled together and got me. My wife ( also my batch mate) got a nice quartz titan watch.
I got married pretty early and we were all surviving on meagre stipend then. So this was a substantial gift and my best watch.
It also has my birth year on the dial. TH was and somewhat still is an aspirations brand in my part of the world. And we didn’t know difference between a fashion brand vs watch brand watches.
It looks lovely with that dial and tiny date window.
I don’t know the size but it’s monstrous.
After 13 years still looking sharp. The original bracelet deteriorated away and was replaced with a aftermarket without end links. It’s in my rotation.

It appears Tag Heuer was the gateway drug for many. Purchased at LAX in 1990, this Tag 1000 was my first love. I’d never heard of them before but I liked the look and for $425 at duty free, I had to say yes. My daily for 17 years until my wife gifted me a Muhle M2 on our wedding day. When the real journey started a year later with my 2254, my 1000 was relegated to cycling and the gym.
