The inscription is really interesting as the watch is, what, thirty years older than the date on the caseback.

Perhaps a boy who was infatuated with his grandfathers pocket watch was given it when he celebrated his confirmation, converted to a wristwatch?

It’s certainly a conversation piece, and looks like it would be fairly imposing on the wrist. It’d do your head in having to twist your noggin around to read the time 😵‍💫

Easy to convert back. Would have been worse if s/s case. Snip off arms and a light sanding to smooth out and quick polish

Curious what it might go for

Hard to judge the size but it doesn't appear very large. Might not look so bad on the wrist and maybe 30 years ago it was done so whoever got it could enjoy wearing and looking at it rather than have to fish it out of their pocket.
