I’m just hoping that they keep it black and white and don’t try and add some red text on the dial but suspect I’ll be disappointed

Have you not seen the pictures? Here is the original thread discussing this:

White dial, black hands red text it seems. A variation of the Rising Sun Speedy in essence. Nice but hardly Earth shattering.

i am no moonwatch expert

but now the prices are going north would it be reasonable to expect more for your money??

like.... applied indices?... would an automatic movement be sacrilege?

Yes, that's sacrilege for a Speedmaster PROFESSIONAL. You can get the Reduced or Racing / "Two Counters" with those features if you want it.

ha ok!

but why? i agree they can/should preserve and continue to offer the original speedy design forever

but i would really prefer an automatic movement, is/was there a good reason for it to be manual?

(Reduced or Racing / "Two Counters" - i just don't like them)

So Sir would like an Automatic White dial 3 counter Speedy in the Pro form factor?

Very well.

The point to take here is that they have offered auto versions (several) times before but they haven't sold brilliantly.

Oh like i said i am no expert; I think they are two hideous examples. But I get your point.

1. No not really. If you get cost of living pay raises, do you produce more work at your job? For most people that's a no.
2. Automatic movement is a no. Speedy Pro is a manual wind chrono.

There was no particular reason as to why it was always a manual wind except that it always was simply the design of the movement.

Don't forget that the NASA tests required the watch to be able to be manually wound, so an auto wind wasn't necessarily excluded as long as it could be manually wound as well.
Makes sense really👍

One fairly significant factor is that there was no automatic chronograph movement actually available in the early 1960s so it would have seen silly for NASA to have specified something that didn’t at that time exist. Who was actually first to market with this feature is still up for debate (there are 3 viable candidates) but none was seen in the wild before 1969.

I think those sold slower than the 2017 Railmaster when they were around. I actually kind of liked it but I can see why most didn’t.

My hopes are low.

but if they want to go non traditional they might as well swing for the fences. It worked on the DSOTM line. You could extrapolate that a ceramic Pro would sell.

personallynwhite ceramic looks good in hand but feels fashion watch like in pictures.

Oh gosh, I completely forgot about this reference. Adding a photo because I find it really interesting. And yeah, I imagine it’s way better in the “ceramic” than it is in photos.
