...I think it could be an English made case (I believe we have seen a few of these here on OF with integrated bracelets) in which case it is original, but not Swiss made which has a small impact on value/collectability.

The £8k the OP's mother was quoted has to be an insurance appraisal which is based on what a similar model would cost today if it needed to be replaced. In terms of market value there isn't a whole lot more than the cost of gold in it.

I don't think it is English. Dennison 18K cases and bracelets don't have 750 marks, they have full UK hallmarks. The clasp would be Omega marked on a Dennison or Shackman case/bracelet too. I guess the clasp may have been replaced of course. It would be good to blow up the image of the clasp bar as that may have a hallmark on it, or it may just be damage.

A photo of the caseback might be useful. There may well be further marks on that.

At Gold being over $2kUS I'd scrap the bracelet and case tomorrow then buy something you would enjoy wearing.

Circa 20g of that isn't gold. The movement, crystal and dial are not. The scrap value there is of the order of £2K give or take a couple of hundred.

Wilkinson’s Auction out of the UK had a similar 18k white gold Seamaster for sale several months back. They provided the following photos when I expressed suspicion that the case may not be original. Photos confirmed my suspicion.
