Which would you choose Speedmaster 57 or FOIS

I 'm in the market for a new Omega and I was considering a Speedmaster 57 or FOIS. Can someone who was in this situation tell me what you ended up doing? I am truly split on this one.

FOIS because I like the case design, size and movement. Not a fan of two dial chronographs. But don't have either.

Well, are you the kind of person that is into both two register and three register chronos? Seems a lot of people aren't, and which one you prefer may be the biggest reason to settle on one or the other.

The 57 is just a hair larger and has fantastic colored dials- if I were just deciding between the black 57 and The FOIS I'd probably go FOIS- but if color is a consideration the blue and red 57s are very nice (so is the green, but there are other greens I prefer more)

FOIS between these two, but they're pretty different so what do you want out of your Speedmaster.

I am a 3 registers guy, but the 57 looks so good I feel it don't bother me too much. I have a wrist that is just under 7.5" so I was leaning to the 57 for that reason. I do have a 3861 moonwatch and my wrist isn't to big for it. I love the look of the dial of the FOIS, but I don't like how the hands disappear is some light angles. The bracelet is similar on both. I love the crystal the FOIS. I feel it turn the watch into a very special piece. I love the colors on the 57 and I do agree that red and green at amazing. I was thinking green. I would love to get both but I have to be a little responsible.

I do have a 3861 moonwatch now, but I feel the FOIS is different enough that I would be fine.

Did you consider the trilogy, there's one in the FS section, imho the best of both worlds.

And the price was very attractive...

Hmm, I have the original Broad Arrow Replica and am getting a 3861 Moonwatch very soon. I feel those are different enough, if that helps.

I think it would depend on what else was in my collection, to be honest. Both have their pros, but overall I'd go with FOIS.

I would go with the FOIS, mostly because I feel a Speedmaster should not have a date wheel

OF the two, I'd go FOIS, since I am absolutely a 3-subdial guy (and the 2subdials just look awful to me).

The dial on the FOIS is quite pretty when you look at it close. That said, I was between the FOIS and the White speedy and ended up with the white one. Now that I have a Ed-White, every time I see the FOIS in the case, it looks like a 'lesser' version of the Ed-White.

So my feedback: Get the Ed White instead 😁

A clear answer if ever there was one 😂

But it's true- I can't see myself wearing a 57 over some of the other options Omega produces.

I guess I’m a 2 register chrono guy… I actually sold my 3861 Speedmaster and replaced it with a 57, it just has more wrist presence, so for me it would be the 57. Best advice is to try both and you’ll know soon enough. And a pic of my 57 as all threads need a pic or 2.

There's truth in that. Although almost twice the price it could well be worth saving up for the Ed White rather than getting a couple of $8-10k Speedmasters. I have nine Speedmasters in the collection and the Ed White would be the last to go. Something to think about.

I'm at 6, and am in a similar camp. I wouldn't want to get rid of any of mine, but EW would be last one out of I were faced with that need.
