A largely hypothetical question given the vast majority of Rolex fans would jump at the chance of being offered any model at retail from their AD. 1. Has anyone been offered multiple models and had their pick? And 2. If you did receive the phone call, and were presented with the full array of sports models to chose from - which do you pick and why? A totally unrelated photo of my speedy from the office balcony because who doesn’t love a speedy photo. Pete
1) Never as I always know the exact model I want 2)Yes, have been called for Daytona and DJ. Sport models is only 5 digit cases for me so will never get a new one anymore.
Whatever is the highest value right now, so that I could trade it towards what I really want: a matte dial 16750 or just a pristine 5513.
I remember the days when you could just walk into a Rolex dealer and buy whatever watch you wanted. Daytona's were always a little hard to score but not impossible. How times have changed.
1. Never been offered any, as I've never expressed interest to a boutique or dealer. 2. GMT2 Pepsi on Oyster bracelet (2021 model). As an aviation enthusiast, it's a must have.
2015- walked in and had my choice of Polar Explorer II 201670, DateJust or Sub; chose the Explorer II Polar. Today, would LOVE to get offered a Bluesy cuz I am totally mesmerized by that Rolex blue dial and gold.. Yes, how times have changed.
Not being specifically a Rolex fan I'd go for an OP 36 in which I have a growing interest. It looks amazingly essential and genuine to me, more than any other Rolex ( just personal opinion based on my taste, no intention of being controversial) Besides, even if the Explorer is credited for being first on top of Everest, some purists of epic stories behind watches would say it was really an OP as the Explorer came after that.
Modern Rolex are Nolex for me. Just not my bag. So I’d be that guy and pick the one I could flip for the most...
1. I don’t play AD games. 2. I don’t play AD games, but if I walked into a store and they had every sports model available to me or any other customer, I might consider a Pepsi GMT.
