Probably this gold UG. Although the "Evil Clapton" in this condition with box and papers I think may also qualify....

Indeed rare, never seen this configuration before, and the EC is a real stunner!

Beautiful piece! What's the brand?

this piece has no particular brandname as it appears that this was made right after its movement was just patented by its maker, fhf , in1929.

Amazing stuff here guys

Most valuable would be this 16660 with box and papers,

Probably 'rarest' is this early tudor ranger 7965 😀

This one just arrived today!

Of the various models of Enicar Sherpa Graph, consistent with the research done by by Nico (JimJupiter) over at the Enicar 101 site, the "Id" model is the rarest. The known serial number range allows for only 500 watches.

5618xx through 5621xx - (561700 through 562199) Mine is 56213x ;-)

Of the 500, how many were produced in the "albino" variety as opposed to the more common reverse panda?

This one is in very fine condition and came with an original buckle, box, tag and guaranty.

I have not started a thread here as yet, but perhaps this watch is worthy of its own thread.

Cheers,

~ Joe

Edited the number range based on newer information 12/28/21

What was the original purchase price?

I dare not say, but it was more than you would expect to pay for a Mark II, III or IV. 😉

Edit: If by "original price" you were thinking of what the price was in 1962, I do not know, but I bet is was a couple hundred bucks back then.

I was referring to the original purchase. But kudos if you got a steal

Either this Universal Aero compax 809101/01 with the day/night infinity dial or the 20's universal monopulsante- both for condition and just not many around ::psy::

Thanks for sharing your nice pieces. The "Yin Yang" dial on the 890101/01 looks off for me as it is not the original dial for this reference. Most of us ask ourselves to which watch this dial belongs. I have received this dial together with my 890100/01. The dial will match this reference better, becuase it has the hour track on the outer side of the diall and minuterie inside. But the dial has a 30min sec. subdial by contrast to the 15 min of the original 890100/01 dial. So it does not match my watch too.

So there may have been a Ref. 890100/02 Prototyp with these dial configuration (esp. no minute track on the dial at all) and modified Venus 178 movement (like in my Breitling 809 Scott Carpenter with exactly this configuration). I have never seen that until now.

So it looks as a Myth for me until someone gives evidence on the configuratuion of the "Yin Yang" dial.

Best Hajo

Hi Hajo- The 3 0'clock register on mine doesn't count 30 seconds like your 890100- it ticks every full minute up to 30 minutes as it should based on the present day/night dial that's in the watch. Here's another example sold at Sotheby's last year: http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2018/important-watches-n09879/lot.293.html?locale=en

"The chronograph was offered with three different dial colors: black, white and the present two-tone black and white. The bezel for the monochrome dials featured a two-tone bezel to differentiate night and day for the 24 hour dial and second time zone, whereas the black and white dial version was a single brushed finish, as seen on this example. The model was also offered with a 12 hour dial with a caliber 130 inside, and the present 24 hour example features a caliber 90 with a 30-minute chronograph register, jumping every minute in contrast to the examples featuring a 15-minute register (which jump in 30-second increments)."

This Sotheby's one is within 8 digits of my serial #.

My thoughts on it are that UG sold a batch of these as a variant to the more common 890101 we see with that all white dial like yours and the 15min register at 3 that counted 30 sec increments. For me this is the simplest explanation. There are a few more examples of mine sprinkled on IG and online as well so I doubt that all would not be original (ie-the dials were put in aftermarket). Universal has a lot of mystery left to unravel though I'll give you that.

Rare by saying it’s almost impossible to get it for MSRP. That being said I got a BLNR with no wait at MSRP.
