Where to purchase Speedmaster Pro? Help please.

Hello all,

New member Rick here. I am getting close to purchasing my first Speedmaster Pro. I'm looking for advice on where/who to purchase from. I know that Jomashop & Watchmaxx sell the current models and seem to have the best prices on the web. Are there other vendors I should consider?

Thanks in advance for your help.

(PS: Can a new 3572 be had anywhere?)

Check out the for sale section of the forum. There are a few trusted dealers there. Personally, Id go with one of them.

You also need to do a lot of homework before purchase if you want to be sure to get the model you want at a reasonably good deal.

You can get a 3572 used easily. If you mean "new", you might be referring to New Old Stock, which would be more rare.

Not interested in vintage models? I would just rather get a nice 70s speedy for around the same price of the new model...

I may get some hate for this but IMO, it depends on how old you are. If you are a young guy, I say buying a new current model is not a bad move. I say this since the basic design and function of Speedy Pro has not changed over the decades and most probably will remain so in the foreseeable future. Then as you age, your watch ages with you and that bond is priceless. I bought my Speedy Pro in my 20s and I thoroughly enjoyed getting old with my speedy over the years. IMO, with Speedy Pro, new or vintage, you can't go wrong.

I don’t know. You can get new’ish ones for $3500 but a nice 70s speedy has now crept to over $5000 and it’s a minefield of franken watches and service issues. I went for a 3590.50 which was perfect for me. Tritium dial without being molested

I think my first note was a bit confusing so here's another try.

In researching the Speedmaster Pro, it sounded like the 3572 would be my ideal watch- hesalite crystal, sapphire caseback & the 1863 movement. I realize that, for whatever reason, Omega discontinued this model quite a few years ago. So it is no longer available new, I assume.

I am retired and so am on the proverbial "fixed income". So for me this means that this will probably be my first and last Speedmaster. (Not looking for sympathy, just stating my situation) Because of this, I would prefer to purchase a new watch. The model I'm leaning towards is the 3570 (311.30.42.30.01.005). At some point in the future, I might swap-out the steel caseback for an aftermarket sapphire (Thomas Preik?) to make for a pseudo 3572.

So to clarify the original question, are there any alternative sources (other than Jomashop or Watchmaxx) for a new 311.30.42.30.01.005?

I would ask @Kringkily to source your a NIB or LNIB (still under warranty) piece. Price will be competitive with Joma but will come with a 5 year Omega warranty. Sounds like you are looking for a good deal but protection down the line. This solves both.

I purchased mine from chitown.com - it was a pleasant experience.. no issues with the watch.. all paperwork included. Been ticking issue free since 2016

Hey Rick - Welcome.

I'm in a similar space as you. Unfortunately for me, I purchased a Speedy a few months back that didn't work out. The seller (an OF fellow) was great about it and it was returned. Still pining for a new Speedy (love the vintage pieces but don't have the requisite shekels) I've since placed an order through a local industry contact and am waiting on its arrival. It happens to be the exact model that @Spacefruit has suggested to you in the above link. If I had not already placed my order, I'd snatch this one up in a heartbeat. Seriously. $2950 (note: many OF sellers are open to reasonable offers) is an excellent deal on this legendary watch. It won't last long, I reckon.

Otherwise, as also indicated above, the sellers on the Watches for Sale thread are excellent options for you. Best of luck, Sir!

Sorry for the newbie question but what the hell is chitown.com? My browser shows a broken website.

Either that or Kringkilly, or mdgrwl - members on this forum. I went with chitown since I needed shipped to my location - long story don’t want to get into it... but either of those 3 choices would work

Ditto for Chitown if you want brand new--it's grey market but there's still the warranty, and the seller is very nice and prompt. Got my FOIS there, no regrets. Jomashop you're stuck with their warranty and not the Omega warranty, so it's iffy.

I bought mine from CaliberSwiss last year. Very easy to deal with and a decent price. I got an additional discount by paying with cash. CaliberSwiss is like Chitown, it's a grey market price with the warranty. I received the entire package including warranty and pictogram cards.
Good luck in your search, you'll really like the Speedy!

JB Hudson in Mpls. is an AD. They usually have a couple of "late model" Speedmasters available. It might be worth going in to check them out.

Definitely if you get an opportunity purchase from @Kringkily. He's a joy to deal with and his watches are top notch.

I personally wouldn't buy from JomaShop or WatchMaxx as they only have in house warranty. 😉
