Trustworthy - Yes

Expensive - Yes

Would I buy a vintage watch from a shop in Melbourne - It would have to be exceptional.

Truly exceptional.

Just enjoy your honeymoon.

(I'm surprised you can think of buying stuff when you should be ........................ er, you know 😉).

You'll have better luck in Sydney. I was in both places a few weeks ago and you definitely will have more options in Sydney. All the big brands have boutiques and the Queen Victoria mall and the surrounding areas had some "antique" stores that had watches on the display window. Here is one of the stores: https://www.kalmarantiques.com.au/.

Good luck with the search!

Pretty sure you could drop into @JimInOz s place in the outskirts of Melbourne and rummage through he’s giant box of vintage watches and find something.

Also hire’s Vespa,s for the day I hear... ( for those latte sipping tours )

There are a couple of shops selling used watches in the city area. Also keep in mind you will be paying a premium as JimInOz mentioned. All of these are quite good shops but I feel you still need to have some knowledge of what your buying. Also keep in mind if they offer a warranty and there is an issue with the watch how you will get it back to them.

Here are some suggestions. You may have to Google their opening hours. They all offer a variety of second hand Swiss watches.

The Watch Gallery at 337 Little Collins St Melbourne

The European Watch Gallery at 83 Collins St Melbourne

Watchtime in the Block Arcade at 98 Elizabeth St Melbourne

Watch Collector Co at Level 1 22 McKillop St Melbourne

The Watch Trader at Level 4 289 Flinders Lane Melbourne

I would also consider buying something new.

Best of luck with your search and married life.

Bargains are hard to find anywhere these days, the internet has leveled the playing field. You might find something unusual or different. Currency exchange will often dictate how good the deal is. Australia is a pretty good place to buy new, reasonable discounting, rebate of 10% GST, and good exchange rate in most currencies.
