Hello if I were looking to purchase a vintage omega watch from the 60’s what is a reliable source? Is there a reliable site / dealer that focuses on these? What should I be on the look out for and what should I be aware of delving into the vintage watch market? thank you
There are many threads on this topic. Here is one to get you started. https://omegaforums.net/threads/buying-vintage-watches-advice-discussion.114321/
Also if I purchase a vintage Omega watch does Omega repair/restore it? Or do all repairs and TLC need to be done by a private watch repair person?
You can go either way. Omega will charge you a lot more, and may replace vintage parts willy-nilly, so they aren't normally recommended. A private watchmaker with an Omega parts account is likely to be better. Make sure you find one that has the parts account/is qualified for vintage repairs.
Does anyone use the search function? All of these questions have been asked and answered a hundred times.
Well then what does anyone have to post and talk about . May as well close the forum and make it a library
Research and time will give you this answer. Yes there are dealers but they charge a hefty premium, and can be just as much a minefield in finding the right one That’s reasonable priced and 100% honest A few links below to get you started. But my advice is spend some time looking at the one watch you want, and spend all your time reading and researching that one model There are plenty of nice watches to be had. Checked a few books out for you. https://omegaforums.net/threads/condition-condition-condition-and-other-pieces-of-advice.1716/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/
Is chrono24 a good source for vintage watches? They have some amazing looking watches w many pictures including the movement.
Only if you want to overpay. Good values there are few and far between. When a fairly priced watch shows up, it is instantly sold. gatorcpa
Some Texans live a hard-scrabble life and at times bring those sensibilities into our nice parlor with mud on their boots and sand in their hair. You got off pretty light, considering.
