Where is Uncle Seiko fabricated?

Uncle Seiko's website says that it is "owned and shipped" from California, but leaves out fabricated. Are they made in China or somewhere else?

I asked that question when he was active here once. He didn’t reply. I was just curious as the bracelets seem to lack the “made in” tag anywhere on them

If they were made in the first world they wouldn't be $100. Don't ask questions you don't want to hear the answer to.

ps I have heard it suggested persuasively that some Omega bracelets aren't made in Europe either.

Even the rear crash structure of a GT2RS is made in China so wouldn’t be surprised but it’s all held to the same quality standards set by the manufacturer. Chinese high end production work is rather superb, Atelier Wen are effectively targeting Grand Seiko at a slightly lower price point and doing a remarkable job https://www.fratellowatches.com/hands-on-with-the-new-atelier-wen-perception-2-0/

Interesting. Maybe they figure a GT2 is so quick will never get rear ended. Good job my 911 is only a base model then 😉

Jokes aside, I am in agreement that they know what they are doing over there.

Incidentally the first major part they produced there, tested meticulously by their engineering center in Shanghai is the 996 exhaust headers & cats, which ironically were about the only trouble-free part of that m96 engine. Since then they’ve expanded it to the extent that even the new replacement OEM fuel pumps for many aircooled 911s, which were becoming very hard to obtain are back in production in China.

Every now and then some old guy receives a “made in china” fuel pump for his SC from the dealership and freaks out claiming its fake on social media but its entirely legit as there is no other way to put complicated out of production parts like that back into small production at a high quality standard for a reasonable price.

I can second that. My watchmaker has been pretty clear about the Chinese origin of some Omega parts, and has shown me some original packaging (I think bracelets are the main but not only culprit) with the CN code suffix, as distinct from the CH suffix.

Yep. Chinese manufacturing is absolute top-tier... logistics, supply chain, expertise, automation, talent pool. People think "Made in China" means junk because middlemen push cheap crap for fat margins. Selling products made by the lowest bidder.

The reality? They produce some of the best quality out there. It’s just not what most people are buying, or it’s staying in domestic markets.

In addition to being well made and inexpensive, Uncle Seiko also supports charities and his community. Unless he beats his dog, not much downside to supporting him.

Margo says she’s a fan of US but strangely she has no problem if he does beat his dog. This is a genuine pic I took a while back. God only knows why.

Nah, Porsche knows many GT2RS owners will loop the car and back in to a tire wall.

With so much weight bias aft, no matter how cleaver they engineer the inherent tail happy nature of the layout, physics will eventually win out and the tail will end up wagging the dog!

Please note that we'd like to keep these sorts of topics about the products and criticism specific to them, without diving in to government and politics issues that always end up divisive (and side-track good threads). Thanks.

I have an Uncle bracelet on my Omega Flightmaster and couldn't be more happy with it.

Nice. I've actually never seen an Uncle bracelet in person and been curious about how they feel in hand, and how well they hold up over time. Kind of skeptical given the price point. They always look decent in photos though.

My only experience with Uncle is an 1162 bracelet with the optional push button, milled clasp for my 1973 MK II which I've owned since new. Excellent quality for about $130 total, no complaints. I would rate its quality better than the OEM friction clasp bracelet that came on the watch 51 years ago.

I like the clasp action in particular much better the the original, on which the locking tang would fatigue and snap off on a regular basis.
It seems to fit me much better too and is very comfortable.

Probably true for most people. I was skeptical at first. They're very good. End links are tight. I've had one for my Seiko 6139 and a couple BOR. In fact, they are so good I now question why an OEM is so expensive.
