Are you for real? That’s outlandish, the ducking watch was like 700£?

Not sure I understand.
Just because the watch was cheap to buy (recently), does not mean that it was always cheap to buy, or that servicing it will be cheap.
And arguably, servicing shouldn't be cheap - you're paying a skilled craftsperson to do a complicated job that required lots of time and training.

Not sure I understand. I sent my owned-from-new 1342 watch to Bienne and it came back with a new crown fitted and the old but still functioning one in a bag. I tried to send the old crown to someone like you who needed a replacement. It did not make it through the mail.
Now I know more about the handling technology used to process regular mail I would send it differently now.
I appreciate that, but that’s too high of a price for a crown, it only needs to be attached, I’m not asking for open heart surgery here.:

Sooooo, all that has happened to it is that the crown has been magically whisked away by a wave of the watch fairy's wand?
Right.
If you like it get it properly serviced, if you don't the bin is over there ->
Give how much of a strip you’re having about paying for a watch service, it’s probably for the best that you’re not asking for open heart surgery… I understand that’s somewhat more expensive.
What are you talking about, a magic wand, you’re not making sense. I’m getting the crown reattached today for 70$
I live in Sweden. We have free health care here, I would pay 20$ for open heart surgery
If the crown has come off the watch has been open to the elements. Whether for minutes, days, weeks, months, or years.
A service is highly advisable.
Just reattaching the crown is generally a bad idea. You don’t know what could have got inside the movement, and you don’t know what else might have been affected by the crown or stem becoming detached.
I think I know what you mean with stem, and it is working. I can set the time so I can’t see how opening it would be necessary. Do you guys work for omega? I bought a quartz this time to not have to pay for expensive check ups and repairs.
