I bought this beat up pre moon speedster years ago, it's pretty beaten but I loved the look. The dial has a brown finish with halo's around the sundial, would this be "chocolate" or does they normally be much browner?

There really is no "normally" IMO, almost any shade of brown can be found. If it looks brown to you, then it's brown. Out of curiosity, is yours in one of the typical serial ranges for brown dials?

A brown dial can depend on the light. I have a 145.012 that is going that way. Mostly it looks black, but if you catch it in the right light it definitely has a brownish tone.

To me that looks brown even on my shitty phone with ‘nightshade’. You have a perfectly black bezel framing the dial …regardless of sunlight, the contrast between the two colors is easy to use as a tell…

Yes .. you have a chocolate fade going. Most clearly seen in sunlight.

Hi Dan

Do you have a note of those ranges? I have a 69, but I don't think it has a brown tone. Maybe it needs more sun 😀

Take it to a good watchmaker, open it and lick it. Sorry I couldn't resist.
