Q: When did I realise I had a serious watch problem?
A: The moment you guys told me that my Dad's 105.012-65 was worth more than the £70, that I previously tried to sell it for.😟 I've been worrying about the 'fakkin' thing ever since.😕

Is it vintage correct? Is it safe? Is it near a big magnet? Is it getting scratched? Is it getting wet? Is my dot over the 90? Will the ultra-sonic cleaner make a bollocks of my bezel? Are my pushers short? Are my tubes fat enough? Does my crown have flat feet? Does my crystal have a logo? Does my case back have a double step? Is my brown dial OK.... Will it go green? Is my logo applied? Are bits of my lume falling into the 321 movement? Are my 'T's close or wide? Is the serial number correct for the reference? Is it going to fall off the 50 year old bracelet? Are my 633 end links stamped? How do I find £610 for STS to service it? Why did Simon Freese leave the moment my watch went in for service? Has some bassted polished the case? Does my chrono hand have the right end and does it 'creep'? How is my column wheel? Is my 321 running nicely? When I listen to it ticking, Is the tritium giving me cancer of the earhole? Will a hospital porter steal it off of my wrist while I'm having a heart attack caused by all the worry?

Yes it would seem I have a serious watch problem! 😲

I think I realised I had a serious watch problem when I hit 40...

....and of course I'm not talking about number of years! 😁

The day I realised it was when my sister sat on my couch once and was looking for the TV remote control, then went digging down the side of the chair to find it, and pulled out a Rolex Submariner 16610. She looked at me and says "Is this a Rolex?" and in the moment I knew that it was, but didn't remember where it came from or how it got there.

I think from memory I had taken it in trade on something along with some cash and it had fallen out of my pocket when I'd gotten home months prior and I'd just assumed I'd sold it to recoup what it owed me...

All of us with this serious problem know that it is not our fault 🙁 . Remember we are victims here. Most of us were just tooling along and BAM some life event caused this. I tried fighting it, but there is only so much one can do.
In my case my wife said, “I’d like you to research and buy a watch for my father for his 80th birthday. So you can clearly see that I, like most of you am innocent here. At least we are fortunate that we live in a world where the caring humanitarians of Switzerland struggle to keep us alive and healthy 😬

Well, it would a problem if a hot chick walked by with a great rack and you were more concerned if she had a watch on her wrist.

While it certainly isn't cheaper than the motorbike habit it is a lot better then cocaine or cheating on my wife (haven't tried either but it's a safe assumption) so there's no problem then.

Well... the cost of maintaining these things is cutting into the new bike fund, delaying the next purchase, but then, I've not decide on what to buy yet so... um... no problem!

Milord, how old is the oldest of your Omege boxes amd may I inquire with a desire to purchase your stretch bands, I have quite a hankering for them?

For me it was tonight after cleaning up some of the stuff lying around the house. This is just a small portion after collecting for about 10 years. 😟

A few bands:

Tools, a small portion of straps, crystals and dials. Not even sure how I acquired 5 polywatches (all half empty) 😕

Boxes

A couple of ads, crowns, hands...

Anyone else just as bad? I have few OF members in mind...😜

When a rough calculation into aggregate, potential service costs spurs research into chapter 13 bankruptcy protection? 🙄

You beat me to it, Tony. I was recently guesstimating what I have paid for service/repairs over the past 5 years, and the total was a bit shocking ... well into vintage Rolex sports watch territory.

He should pay you to take those bands off of his hands. 😁

I have two tubes...

I also bought 10 dial boxes (like Kyle has in the second picture), thinking it would be enough for a lifetime. Well, now they are full and I bought them, like, less than a year ago...

Just had dinner with the missus in town.

Wife and I were walking; so we noticed different things on people.

She: wow nice shoes, wow lovely dress, cute tote bag etc...

Me: Eww is that a Hublot? Ooo nice Nautilus! Interesting blue dial with no lugs, micro brand watch... etc etc.

Not really a problem but still strange to notice such.

I’m staying firmly in the denial stage. It’s quite warm and comfortable, why engage in any messy self-reflection? 😕
