So true. First thing that popped out for me. I mean, an unpolished 2998 is a unicorn, but you can still find em thick and evem at least. That lower right lug looks downright asymmetric/twisted!

路路Nowhere near as grumpy as he used to be...Where to start. With the obiously wrong dial? Whatever it is (service relumed or just later than the Reference), the absence of an oval "O" and the subcounter indices is enough to tell what it's not.
Drop S also means a 78-mid 80鈥檚 service dial

For comparison, pick random things or the font thickness.
In all fairness, the OP base1000 bezel is a style 1 dot over ninety. Your example is a base 1000 style 2 dot not quite over ninety.

I don鈥檛 have any personal experience with these 1000 bezels, so I have no idea if it鈥檚 applicable to them.
(This is my oldest Speedy, sadly not old enough to have or need a 1000 scale bezel.)

路I don't think numbers being cut off is not a necessary feature of vintage bezels.
