Looks pretty , but needs a bit of cleaning up of the verdigris on the back and even a little on the bezel area.

Mary if you're into the smaller models you may be worth going for the more mint and desirable ones, there are some very nice 18K sold gold models in these smaller sizes that are still rather affordable and much better options than these

Mary, you should read this thread:

    http://omegaforums.net/threads/bride-of-frankenstein.1240/#post-12954

You can get the parts NOS (new old stock - leftover but mint condition) and have a local guy put it together for about the price you'd pay for a mediocre complete watch. Ladies watches don't sell for the kind of money that the average eBay seller hopes for. When one comes up on open bid instead of a B.I.N. listing it rarely breaks $130 unless it's one of the few cool models that look more modern.

Oh what a great suggestion! I just bought the same case ($38). What would be the the correct movement and the best place to find one? What are the other things I need to be aware of when looking at a movement other than its physical condition?

This is getting exciting. I have learned so much in a few days. I even ordered a tool kit. Thanks folks!

    Haha!

Anyhow, this is what I bought (fresh from eBay): http://www.ebay.com/itm/11093801648...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_500wt_1180Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

The case size is "21.5 X 25mm excluding the crown".

What should be the movement size? Apart from the crown (and tube), I will need a ring, at the very least, right? Hey, I am learning the ropes. Please point me to the right direction. Next thing I know I will be reading a watch-making book. :)

I think you have everything you need except the movement and crown. You want to look for a caliber 620 or 625. Post the links here so we can check them out. Enlarge the pics and make sure no rust rears it's ugly head, and the pink color is fairly consistent on all the pieces.

OK, here we go, please recommend which one to buy or to bid on:

    Caliber 620:

    (1) This one seems like a good bet(?):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/30076348698...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1736wt_1387Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    (2) This one seems good too:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/13061256296...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_2493wt_1387Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    (3) Needs clearning:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/26108666479...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1413Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    (4) Does not look great:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/16079666826...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1180Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    Caliber 625:

    (5) Seems to look good. It's $100. Stated as "mens" watch
http://www.ebay.com/itm/27097466278...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1180Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    (6) Looks good too: $110
http://www.ebay.com/itm/28075667547...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1180Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    (7) The seller says it is running, but "no hour wheel"? (Then how does it work?):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/12097260888...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1180Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

This is getting to be fun. Thanks in advance,
    Mary

Regardless of which one, keep it under $65 with the crown and $50 without. The stem might be the wrong length and need to be replaced but that's a minor issue.

The crown is gold, not stainless, so it won't match the case/dial combo. I'd like it if the markers and hands were gold but that's not the situation.

I just noticed that the watch case actually comes with the crown - so there will be a stainless crown - lucky me!

And I did win the bid on the Caliber 620 movement (http://www.ebay.com/itm/30076348698...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1736wt_1195).
However, I was not able to keep it under $65 as you recommended. Apparently someone else was just as interested in it. I did check on other offers and completed bids, it appears that a decent movement goes above $65 now. I have spent about $120 total. Still have to pay for assembly, watch strap, etc. However, I think the deal is not bad - especially when I am learning in the process. What do you think?

You certainly seem to be having fun while assembling a collection of ladies pieces you'll never see another woman wearing in public, nothing wrong with that :)

No worries. $9 over goal isn't bad! Double check that case/dial/crystal listing - I don't think it comes with a crown. You should have options through Jules Borel though.

Great! I will be waiting for the arrival of these parts!

<< You certainly seem to be having fun while assembling a collection of ladies pieces you'll never see another woman wearing in public >>
I will be wearing them with pride - especially the one(s) that "I made". Hahahaha!

Re Jules Borel - Nice company. But it seems very hard to know what exactly one is buying - there is hardly any illustration.

Watchmakers make rubbish web developers, something about attention to detail in the mechanical sense just doesn't transfer to the internet for some reason, no idea why but you never see a watchmaker with a good website.

Cat breeders are the worst mind you, their websites are horrific.

I'm a dog person and can say with conviction that not one canine I've ever owned has used a computer. So I guess that means no.

Don't worry Mary. When I have my watchmaker assemble Windy's watch I'll try to get the correct Borel part number for you plus whatever else you need.
