......On a slightly different topic, but still food, I was happy to learn from my (somewhat puzzled) dietitican that I can still eat my favourite sandwich for lunch:

Is that peanut butter with onions?????

I know it sounds odd, but use a Spanish or sweet onion, and it's very tasty! 馃榾

Cheers, Al

No mate that would be crazy...it's CHUNKY peanut butter with onions! 馃槈

Seriously - don't knock it until you try it. Everyone who was willing to try it over the years (admittedly not many) have been converts.

Ummm, not sure I can go there since I love cooked onions, but not raw.

For the uninitiated wanting to try the PB&O for the first time, try to find a really sweet onion like a vidalia...

As shown above, a little peanut butter on each slice works best, and also white bread...

If anyone tries it, please let us know what you think!

I will eat anything, high or low, as long as it is made well.

From tacos:

To tsukune:

I love cheap beer (Rolling Rock, Tecate) but prefer the Japanese whiskies....

Variety is key.

Amazing Thanksgiving dinner with Applewood smoked turkey, oyster casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, and a brussel sprout, napa cabbage, Swiss chard, and kale salad. Not too shabby for dinner on a road trip.

The '70 Taylor Fladgate is done, and it did get better each day over the two weeks it was open..... but now, the real fun begins! Here's one of my favorite combinations:

Decanting it overnight, so it will be ready to crack into tomorrow. 馃憤 The only things I wish I could change about vintage port is (a) lower the alcohol content from 20% to 15% so I could drink a bit more without worrying about becoming inebriated, (b) make the bottle bigger so you net 750 ml after filtering all the sediment out, and (c) put a modern faux cork in it because these old real corks turn to dust / chunks of mush. 馃槈

This is the first time I tried this brand, so I went for this younger version. I must admit I was a pretty pleasant experience for the afternoon.

I had some of the best fried oysters I've ever had in my life at...wait for it...the Houston airport at the 3rd Bar & Eatery.

My absolute favourite is Black Truffle Risotto, there's a restaurant called Moo Moos in Brisbane that makes it served with a side of red wine jus and white truffle shoestring fries and its just ridiculously good. I used to have lunch there 1-3 times per week until it started making me too podgy. I've tried many others but no risotto compares with the Moo Moos black truffle except Basilico in Singapore early this year, looking forward to going back to SG in 2015 partly to see the guys over there again but also for that buffet, I had the misfortune of being unwell that day and didn't get to properly enjoy it, next time I'll make a better effort.

Here's the Moo Moos Risotto, feeling hungry right now...

Lol - ocean! I'm from CO so I know my prairie oysters too and they aren't something I'd describe as delicious!

WOW - Grahams 1977 Vintage Port!
Rather than another cork, try Vacu Vin Wine Keepers.
Best and most affordable to keep any open bottles of wine for any reasonable period of time.
Available on line or most quality wine stores.
