Good morning, folks.

We had some delicious steaks. Served with some bread and salad.
I made these steaks on a so-called "beefer" that reaches a temperature of 1400掳 F.

Well, folks in the UK, don't ask me how they could name this grill the way they did....::facepalm1::

Cheers,
Thomas

Threw a bunch of things together for dinner last night. Ended up with something resembling a full English.

Is that Simms in Golden CO?

Feasting like royalty tonight with some great views of the city, fabulous wine and excellent food (bison prime rib).

I know Dennis (ulackfocus) loves fine wine so I thought it might be fun to start a food and wine thread.

It is. Seems to have gone down hill again. Was great when they revamped to "Simms Steakhouse" for a few years but the last couple of visits have not met expectations - either up selling every order by the waitstaff or menu changes that aren't as good as the things they replaced.

Dang, I saw Bison prime rib and got excited but I don't see it on there menu anymore. I live near Park Meadows mall by my wife and I REALLY want to move to Golden. The in-laws are in Lakewood so we can drop the kids off and have dinner in Golden and pretend we live there. I hear The Keg is a great option for steak in Lakewood.

Just got my hands on these bad boys. Red habaneros on top and ghost peppers on the bottom.::psy::

Don't really care for ghost peppers - the heat is not the issue but any time I've had something with them in it, there is an odd aftertaste - almost a bit "musty" if that makes sense...you will have to let me know if that comes from the peppers you have.

But Habs are my favourite. Use them often and used to grow them in pots on the back deck - they are easy to grow. Tasty (just love the flavor of Habs), just the right amount of heat, and they make good props for watch photos too...

One year we had so many we dried them in one of those food dehydrators...they keep well when dried but my eyes would sting every time I walked into the kitchen during that process though!

Cheers, Al

Interesting note. I've been sprinkling these on food lately and had a similar (relative) distaste at first for the ghost. I called it smokey, which is usually good but less so in this case. Not so bad lately.

馃憤 Agreed Al, ghosts do have a less than stellar flavor. These actually taste pretty good. I usually only use them in salsa or finely chopped and mixed in with turkey chili or burgers. I've had a few Trinidad scorpions that have the heat of the ghosts but also have a nice fruity flavor(hot as hell though). All in all, I think the habanero has the best flavor and enough heat to set me free! Damn, forgot to throw a watch in with the peppers! 馃が

Was that due to the peppers or that beautiful JLC Memovox? It looks to be in perfect condition; do you actually wear it?
I can remember seeing this circa 2005, but my then finance director put any ideas of getting one permanently on ice. At the time I was more interested in the 171 81 70 (Geographic), but the idea of a mechanical wrist alarm is also very retro cool.

The watch head looks quite thick, likewise the lugs. How does it wear? Any chance of some wrist shots?
Cheers
Nick
