What's wrong with bumper automatic movements?

So many nice bumper automatics in this thread. I have tried to resist uploading images of any of mine yet again, but my itchy figure has got the best of me. Three of them, anyway.

The calendar is lust worthy! All three are great examples of bumpers at their best

Maybe you need to move around a little more Bryan!

Hey I'm retired. What can I say?

Livin' the dream plopped in front of the computer lookin' at bumper automatics.

Bumpers are fun, collectible, and a great part of horological history. The fact that they might be less efficient than a full rotor design seems like a minor point in the context of 50-60 year old watches. It's pointless to ask which movement is better when comparing different eras ... just not relevant. There's more to a watch than a movement. Buy what you like.

I'm happy to have this one in the collection.

Since we're piling on with nice bumpers, here is my 351 in its 18k case. The bump makes it a lot of fun to wear.

I love bumpers, and the charm of that "chunk" sound. My favourite is my Ref.2374-3

Mine is off for service, I do miss it. My daily wearer that "speaks" to me!
It's older than me but might be in better shape.

It's been over two years since I made this post questioning the desirability of bumper movements. Thanks to all that responded and convinced me to acquire a bumper Constellation. I can now relate to those describing the charming feeling of having a "thud" knock against my wrist as I walk around. I love explaining the movement to friends that are not interested in watches and allowing them to shake my watch to feel the thud of the bumper. It never fails to showcase the complexity inside the case and force them to ponder the mechanics of time-keeping.
