·I'd be thrilled to have that watch from my dad. Keep it. You'll be glad you did some time down the road. Give it to your son, daughter, etc. Insurance is probably overkill. It's not going to make you rich...not even for a day.

··Oooo subtitles!You know radium is massively radioactive, right? Where has it gone, well some has turned to dust and is all over the dial. Some is still in place. A uv torch should make it briefly glow but with radium it is the phosphor that breaks down so it doesn’t glow for long. This doesn’t really worry watch collectors but why would you want to replace it?
Nice enough heirloom that. Expect maybe £350-500 if sold on eBay or similar.

··Color Commentator for the Hyperbole.Really nice old Omega field watch. Love the patina. The Japanese have a lovely term for it.. Wabi Sabi. I have several like this from other makers. It’s perfect as is. Just have a trustworthy watchmaker with a parts account give it a movement tune up and a new set of gaskets. Nothing else!
