What's the latest thinking on watch winders for automatic watches?

I use a winder that holds four watches. The usual candidates include two Rolex 1675 GMTs I own (including the one I'm wearing today, shown here), because they don't allow for quick date adjustment. But I sometimes retire them for a month or two, and then bring them back into rotation once the date on the watch synchs up with the calendar again. There are no watches I own that I keep permanently on a winder, because I also don't want to wear out the mechanism.
