For me, this quote from a Fratello review article sums it up:-

"If the MoonSwatch upsets you, I think you’re taking this way too seriously. What it might do, however, is trigger a new (young) audience who will aspire to own the real deal at some point in the future."

I won't even to begin to take this conversation seriously until this thread reaches 100 pages 😉

At the current pace, we should hit that by end of week.

There are probably 100 threads about this on WUS...

What does (sic) mean?
It indicates that there is something incorrect being quoted and that it is not the person sharing the quote who made the mistake.

Agree. The Seamaster diver needs to retain the HeV. It's part of the DNA of the watch like Rolex and the ugly cyclops.

so you're worried someone will think your speedy pro is a 260$ swatch?

no! I am just saying that in general people doesn’t recognize a watch for another. Now everyone will think they spot a swatch. I believe these people waiting in line can’t tell the difference between the real deal and the swatch at all. Nor is the people bidding to absurd prices on ebay.

For many people, me included, it’s not the watch that makes me roll my eyes but the way people act

As someone who has been thinking hard about buying an Omega for a while, this Swatch thing doesn't sit well. I think Omega have made a mistake here.

They don't want people that think hard about buying an Omega to buy Omega, they want people that can buy Omega without overthinking it.

I’m not clear on what you’re saying. Are you suggesting the MoonSwatch has destroyed the value of the Omega Speedmaster Moon watch?

Have you seen anything to validate or justify such a suggestion?

As far as I can tell, the values of my Speedy Moons, Connies and Seamasters are much the same today as they were yesterday . . .

IMO, it's quite possible the values of "the real Speedy's" have gone up or at least been well underpinned.

I think you're imagining some sort of brand exclusivity that Omega can't claim while at the same time discounting units in order to sell them

second this people need to stop complaining that its plastic 😁 its a speedmaster with omega (for real) on the dial for 250$ no 2500... people acting like its gonna cost them their luxury watch collection or compete with it. that's not what its meant to be and I bet these people would be stoked about this if they couldn't afford to get a real one

Reports are that lots of younger folk are enthusiastic about them and why not as they have a chance to get a piece of the action that actually resonates for them.
Otherwise it's unobtainable to say the least or the real Speedy doesn't necessarily resonate anyway because of the ancient nature of it.

Or at least spark an interest in the next tier or two up the chain.
I think i can say one thing for sure. There's virtually no possibility of these MoonSwatches ever being discounted unlike Omega watches👍

This is exactly how I feel about this! Let’s just hope that Swatch doesn’t fυck it up.

Love the video and I tend to agree with everything he said.
interestingly Omega didn't need to pursue this venture in that it's not like the traditional watchmaking side of the industry needed Swatch to wade in and rescue it.
The MoonSwatch is possibly going to be a bigger disruptor than the Apple👎

My wife would want every single one of those! And I would buy them for her.
