Sydney , Melbourne sold out in less than 2 hours.

If they held out that long, they must've had at least a few hundred in stock.

Their home page is https://www.smart.mercedes-benz.com and they were sold in Smart centers co-located with MB dealerships. Smart from the beginning lived on its association with MB.

I had a Smart Roadster for a few years. It was a lot of fun, apart from the terrible gearbox. Great chassis and handling. I couldn't give a flying banjo about either brand. The weakest link was the bloody awful Mercedes dealerships.

Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on a Mission to Mercury. I wonder if a US1450 will fit it...

Whether we like it or not. This move by omega is disrupting the industry. If we look at the number of post we had on this thread for 2 days this is a lot. On you tube everyone talking about it. People who are not watch enthusiasts are talking about it.

Swatch Group pulled a straight up coup with this. Far more profile with a $250 watch than anyone else will get with whatever they release this year. And they beat them to it on the calendar.

How many of those people had even heard the words "Omega Speedmaster" before this event? Not many I suspect.

If each sale point had about 1100 total watches (100 of each flavor) and they sold out in 2 hours, Swatch has not even scratched the demand. They better have a lot more in warehouses around the world ready to go. The question is, do they?

I work in Taipei and my buddy just sent this photo over. There are 2 locations here, both are stacked with people. Mainly youngsters and people who are looking to sell them online for "millions". I wonder if they know that these won't be limited and according to swatch later they are going to be available online.

Well even if they don't have the watches on hand, they clearly have the materials, tooling, infrastructure, distribution and everything else on hand to make more watches. They can probably make ten of these a minute when the machine is humming.

I hope Swatch can meet the demand.

Well, my March Madness bracket was busted all to hell and I was wrong about this Swatch mash-up. Maybe there's hope for the little guy.

GO ST. PETER'S!!!

No matter the opinion, this move by Omega is one of a kind in many years. Watch is supposed to be a fun thing not an investment.

The big difference between the PS5 and a Swatch watch being that a Swatch watch isn’t reliant on technology that belongs to other companies (chips) which are in super high demand and super low production (thanks to Covid).

Looking at the people in the queues, it’s got a much more of a “queue outside Supreme” feel than anything else… but if these aren’t limited (which Swatch have said they’re not) then those kids who are used to flipping Supreme swag for 10x it’s RRP might be in for a shock.
Precisely, I mentioned it earlier but I’ll say it again, Swatch really, really knows how to churn out an astonishing number of watches, arguably better than anyone else on earth. When they were brand new in the 80s they pumped out Swatch watches by the million as the brand took off and they have even more automation now.

If some scalpers burn their fingers I don’t mind at all.

Over 800 posts, and nobody has mentioned the huge elephant in the room (or maybe they did, but I missed it, since I skipped pages and pages of posts about cars and things like that). These Swatches look nothing like Speedmasters. The upper sub-dials are placed far too high on the dial. You could almost think they had quartz movements! 🫨

Still, it would have been great if they had used the MTM Omega logo.
