I'd definitely grab a TimeTona given the chance
Meh, Rolex will have to farm out the movement to Zenith again since it took them 20 years to figure out a Chronograph last time. Not the sharpest tacks in the box 😗

And there was me thinking I might pop up to london tomorrow morning!
Just go back on Monday when they get a couple dozen returns because the customer realized they didn’t just get a $7k Speedmaster for $260

I was considering wandering in, but unsure that I can be bothered. London on a Saturday is a faff at the best of times.

I guess I'll go look for some freelance work so I can afford to buy one off a scalper. 🙄

Indeed, it's going to be interesting to see how long it takes for them to start popping up online locally. And at what price. There were literally several hundred people in the queue and I can't imagine everyone's going to walk away with the one they want.

Why don’t Swatch make a killer smart watch for android that can rival Apple? We would see growth like in the 80s, Swatch need to think about what customers spending £100 to £300 really want.

yeah, one wonders why a company with no electronics/software expertise doesn't use it's 500M annual operating profit (as much as Apple makes every other day) to take on the worlds biggest tech company 🙄

After gawking at the spectacle of it all for a few minutes I headed home. I'd happily pick a couple of these up, but I'm definitely not spending Saturday in a line at the shopping centre.

Found where some of the Melbourne watches are going. Ebay ad with free pickup just down the road from the Swatch boutique for the bargain basement price of about 2.9x retail 🤨

Yep, just tell your mates to not buy them and let them know Swatch will make a LOT more, and make them available online before long.

I may not be crazy about the watches but I do like the straps. 😀
If I can collect all 11 I'll gladly sell you all the straps since I wouldn't use em anyway 😉

Other brands would kill for a photo like this. Young people in line the night before for an analog watch release, complete with police protection. This isn't for Jordans, or Call of Duty, or an iPhone. Young people pulling an all nighter for an analog watch in 2022. Swatch Group just hit the biggest home run of their existence.

These guys are saying that 90% of Omega buyers (not sure what their source for that is) buy it as a luxury product and are not interested in the horology aspect. If that's true, then this move will hurt them badly.
How many people buy the Rolex Sub for diving purposes?

How many people buy four-wheel drive trucks for off-roading?

People buy things for myriad reasons, and not always the ones for which those items were designed.

This is nuts! Anyone know how the stores in NYC are doing right now? I can imagine all of their locations have people lining up. Especially the Times Square Boutique.
