What year is this Submariner from?

I want to buy my first Rolex, but i'm not sure which year it is from (no box and papers and the seller does not know). Plus: is the band original?

Thanks for any answers!

The serial number should give you a good idea of the year it was manufactured. Bracelet looks original to me, but I'm not conversant enough to be certain.

Try and Google "what year is my Rolex from". This may give you some ideas to help you with your research.

Looks like a 14060M from the early 00’s or a 14060 with service dial (holes case but SLN lume)- would need a serial to know. The serial number is under the endlinks as is the model number (one on either side). The seller would need to remove the endlinks to take a pic which isn’t a big deal. I would want to see them regardless.

If all original, this 14060 is between 2001 and 2003 thanks to Swiss Made and holes in lugs.

You must see the letter in the serial number in the lug to get the year (from sources in the internet). 2 liners 14060’s were produced from the early1990’s until 2007 so it’s a big gap and if the dial is original you can’t tell the difference between a 14060 and 14060M.

The run was indeed that long, but the changes from tritium to SLN and the switch from lug holes to no lug holes narrows the range to a 4 year period as @Monobike suggests.
But considering the OP hasn’t been back since Sunday, I guess he got his answer.

Well no one commented on the obvious issue….

Let me pick your brain here! I have a Z series 2 liner 14060M. It’s supposed to be one of the last 2 liners but I can’t be sure. I read that Z series M’s ran until June 2007 when Rolex changed to COSC and thus 4 lines. Is there any way of confirming if My Z series was produced in 2006 or 2007? Thanks!

Thats one I will punt to an M aficionado. My knowledge ends with the regular 14060 as that’s what I have. Paging @Dan S

Thanks for your vote of confidence, James, but I'm afraid I don't really pay much attention to post-tritium Rolex so I wouldn't know anything more than the OP can easily find on the internet.

Thanks. I also have a tritium DJ from 1995. Would the original price tag of the Sub give any clues as to who sold the watch or where? My tag has the serial number for the M and bracelet, but wondered if there any codes that indicate who sold it originally?

No. You need the certificate for that or sales receipt

The 14060 and 14060M had lug holes all over the production period. 5 Digit no date, no hole does not exist.

@TS

one endlink (the 580) is not matching the watch reference. for a good expertise the information is nit enough.

Very true. 👍
14060M cases remained the same through years, at the contrary of other subs models.
So this one should sit between 2000 and 2007 because of the 2 lines dial.
