Hey guys I am in the hunt for an omega seamaster albatros1960052.
I have read that this iconic piece launched at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games and was Omega's flagship chronograph that time. The watch is noteworthy as it was the first chronograph wristwatch in the world to combine analogue display for the time functions and a digital display for the chronograph function, each working independently of one another but running on the same quartz resonator(Wikipedia copy)

so what you think would be a good price to get one in a good condition? Maybe 1200€ (1400 usd)?? Maybe less? Maybe more ?

What has your research told you? What prices have you seen them listed for? Have you seen them listed for sale? There are probably more people looking for them that there are watches for sale. So I suspect this is a seller’s market, not the buyer’s.

I think it’s a buyer’s market. The fear of movement failure and often prohibitive cost of repair puts a lot of potential buyers off, so at any moment there always seems to be a few available. The OPs estimation of price is probably a good one. You’ll often see higher asking prices but they don’t sell.

Edit to add: I went and checked and there are six on C24 plus a few on eBay. Looking at sold listings there were a couple of good ones closer to €1700 , and then a lot of projects (of varying difficulty) ranging from around €600-1000. I’d guess with a little bit of time and effort you’d find a tidy one in the range €1200-1500.

A pristine one can be at 2000$ with full length bracelet, servicing theses watches (repair the movement) is complicate due to the parts lack, a fully serviced one by Omega with 2 years warranty add some bucks ont it and give you some stress less period.

My research shows that these are priced around 1800€. I played around giving some offers , and got even a 950€ offer on one, but I I know this is a dangerous game playing with such watches that can not be serviced easily.
Meanwhile this watch is huge (around 50mm) which is also a fact that finally put me off spending 950€ for one. I would want to have to sell such a watch immediately after buying it because it does not look good on my tiny wrist…

Hi,

For some time I had devoured the model and collected them. In the meantime I think I had 8-10 pieces. You still get them quite often, but unfortunately they are often broken (either the analog or the digital display then no longer works). But I find that the model, contrary to the opinion that is often read, is quite easy to repair. At least if you don't have two left hands. The problem is much more to get the appropriate spare parts. The most common problem I had was that the engine was defective. But it can be exchanged super easily, for example. Then the LCD display is often faded - but that can also be easily remedied.

The model can often be found defective between 500-800 €. Well-functioning models have a much larger price range. Most of the time they are between 1200 and 2500 €.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Best
Oli

a fully serviced one by Omega
AFAIK Omega don`t accept them for repair `cause due to the lack of spare parts.

Wow! Very very cool! First time I’ve seen such a stand for this watch.
