I tried a pair years ago and they were so comfortable. Almost like being barefoot all the time 😉. Unfortunately they reeked havoc on my lower back due to no arch support.

I saw these yesterday and had to have them. They’ll be my #standwithUkraine footwear. I wear Vans Old Skool everyday (their amazing Ultra-range line are my go-to gym and walking shoe).

These are the best shoes I've ever had and 1 of the 4 pairs of Loakes I wear.

Yeppers…I can do the What Shoes Are You Wearing WSYW gig. The Mad Dog action figure wears Bates mil footwear at the office. Since our office uniform is patterned after Navy service dress blues, I religiously wear the same mil shoes that I wore during Navy AD/Navy Reserves while wearing the Navy service dress blue uniform. I see most young hipster pilots wearing hipster pilot footwear…drives me bonkers…I guess I’m just getting old. Pics below from a few minutes ago…and yes, I carry/use my own Kiwi shine kit while at the office [see first pic below]…

OMG, having a serious flashback of Dad. “Time to polish my shoes” If I only had a nickel for each time I polished the black wingtips with the Kiwi shoe polish.
Obviously Mad Dog is an old coot.

Alas I have a lot of Allen Edmonds I will likely never wear again, because I am work from home and most offices are business casual or no code.

I really don't feel like pics, so I'll just share links.

I have two pair Rancourt Ranger-Mocs. I had one pair I got a while ago from another company and loved them... until I found out the OEM was Rancourt. I have the Horween Natural Essex:

https://www.rancourtandcompany.com/collections/mocs/products/classic-ranger-moc-natural-essex

I also have a custom set in Horween No. 8, love that color.

When I don't feel like tying laces:

In theory you're not supposed to wear them outside. I say, bullshit. Very pleasant to wear and take them on a short run to the store.

I have some other shoes that I will be more inclined to wear in the winter, for example some USA-made Chippewa or Red Wing, the low-quarter shoes. Alas Chippewa no longer manufactures in the US, so they have discontinued anything they did make in the US, and Red Wing, who knows what they're smoking, some of their stuff is great and some of it is, well, what were you smoking?

One recommendation: see if the Munson Army Last is good for you. My two pair of Chippewa (black and burgundy) are Munson last and OMG do they fit so very well! That last wasn't designed for fashion, it was designed for fit.

Side note for the Horween Natural Essex by Rancourt? When new, it looks like... skin. Almost people skin. It was a little disconcerting. But they'll age out of that, thank goodness!

Don't really have photos of shoes around here. Here's a watch photo taken a few years back in the Bangor, Maine airport that shows a bit of a pair of Allen Edmonds Shelton saddle oxfords in the photo's edge.

Am just polishing up the pair this afternoon to wear to Mrs. BMc's 45th high school reunion dinner. Better finish up and shave.

There are several of this style saddle oxford around here in different color combinations. Some are called Shelton and some are called Polo.

All are now discontinued as far as I know. Here's a photo of this style gleaned off of Google Images.

The Shelton is indeed discontinued. Mine are black over burgundy. I had a (female) stylist in a salon once tell me, "I don't normally do this, but you have really nice shoes!"

Edited to ad that I live in Wisconsin not far from the factory. The store there is fabulous with a lot of nice people and if there are factory seconds to be offered at a discount, that is what they will offer you first.

Yes they are very nice and for my feet supremely comfortable. And, they never fail to gain complements, the only shoes I've ever worn which elicited remark. I have some black over burgundy (I think oxblood is how A&E sold them) which show the most wear of the pairs here. Ought to send them back for a re-sole/rehab.

There are also black over cocoa which accessorize a black dialed watch on brown strap (like the way my Speedmaster is set up) so well and a pair that are tan with blue.

You know you are a hopeless watch nerd when you accessorize watches with shoes.

Ah! There is another older watch photo on hand showing the black and cocoa pair of saddle oxfords in the background.

See! I'm hopeless.

I don’t wear them very often…but I did wear them recently to see Top Gun Maverick [see second pic below]. They’re my old U.S. Navy issued flight boots…not sure what brand. These are the second pair I was issued…probably in the late 1980s or early 1990s…my initial AOCS issued flight boots from 1986 wore out and were replaced by these…

LATE ENTRY: Edited for spelling/grammar errors.

Serious shine on serious boots for when serious flying is contemplated!

Mad Dog is seriously kitted out!
