What reference Seamaster (1970s?) is this please?

This was posted in OF (WRUW I think) a couple of years ago and I saved the photo but didn't note the poster's name and now cannot find the post again. I'd like to start a hunt for one, it's really taken my fancy. Of course if you have one for sale you know what to do 😉

Is that a 1020 cal? Try searching for that (“Omega 1020”) and you might find some likely options. Probably a 166.0213 reference, but others might know better. Shouldn’t be hard to find under $500.

Yeah, no disrespect to that chrono24 seller, but that’s an insane price for a piece that I don’t think is generally regarded as super collectible.

I’m on a quest for a birth year watch (77 in my case) and my sense is that late 70s pieces (aside from Speedmasters and a few other things) are not high-demand. With diligence and patience, you should come by one of these for under half of what that person’s asking.

Just don’t fall for one of the color-tinted redials so popular in some foreign markets—unless that’s your thing.

That's the puppy, thanks. I'm not at all worried about collectability, just wearability, but properly original is nicer to have.

I’m guessing that’s a blue dialled variant of this, from 1977. There is a difference in the placing of the wording, mine is the same as the OPs but with a silver dial:

It’s a shame that since I got my Speedy the Seamaster doesn’t get much wrist time. But when I do wear it, I’m always surprised how light and thin it is in comparison; it’s a great watch.
