What Omega dress watches were produced/sold in 1957?

... the Seamaster is a tool watch:

Would you consider the modern day non-chrono, non-GMT versions of the AquaTerra to be tool watches? Or my 14722 referenced above? If so, what is their 'tool' functionality?

I'm just messin' with you a bit @Deafboy 😀

There is yet a third category: the Sport Watch. An argument can be made that Sport watches such as the AquaTerra, Rolex Explorer I, or my lowly 14722 ought not be classified as dress watches. But neither are they tool watches.

I wonder, with it being from 1955 would a few (most?) of those listed there still have bumper movements.
The Globemaster was a cal. 354 bumper. By the time the rotor automatics were introduced to Omega's flagship model line, the Globemaster had become the Constellation in the USA.

The Ultima was a cal. 505 rotor automatic. Seamasters and other automatic Omegas could have been either.

Hope this helps,

50s Seamasters wear large IMO - here are mine dating to 1957ish. You should be able to get one within your price range. Keep an eye on the sales section here and eBay (ask for opinions here before buying as it’s a minefield).

This is from 1957. It seems the big lugs were popular during that era!

And I can add this one, which includes an inscription on the back dating it to 1957. More fat lugs.

As above, I was thinking of looking for a birth year watch. Obviously, 1957 Seamasters and Speedmasters are way out of my budget!
Another born in '57 here - and also a biker.

Ride safe and good luck in your quest. 😀

I can’t say with authority one way or another but after looking at Seamasters for five years to find one from 1957, my inclination is that it is the original dial, lettering, and markers. The remaining radium on the dial sure makes the Geiger Counter sing. It would be interesting to get a read from @X350 XJR on this one.

There are so many variations of the lettering, it's hard to say. Without further information, if it's clean enough, it may be legit.
