What makes you decide what watch to wear for the day?

When I used to go in to work, I would rotate my watches weekly, so I'll only have to set a watch once a week. This was when I had 5 mechanical watches on rotation.

After covid and working from home full time, I actually stopped wearing watches, because I normally didn't wear watches when I'm home.

After picking up a Moonwatch, then a blue SMP 300M, and a silver De Ville Hour Vision shortly after, I sold all of my other mechanical watches and kept a Citizen Promaster Diver to use in the pool and a G Shock for the gun range.

Now that I've established a 3 watch collection, I started wearing watches daily again, even while at home.

There are days that I wear all 3 at some point during the day. My work attire is usually a black t shirt and pajama shorts. I guess that's just how it's going to be for a while longer?

How do you decide what watch to wear for the day?

As we’re using the Greek alphabet for successive Covid variants, I always reach for the Omega watch box.

Should we go beyond the 24th mutation, then I hope they start using a classification system based on Longines references 😉

Same here with the home office situation. Usually I'd open the box and somehow straightaway know which one to wear. Also playing a lot more with the straps, to find some new combinations I may like.

Then, there is also the thing of wearing a rarely used watch from time to time, not to let it seat still for excessive periods and have the parts run.

I try to match my belt, footwear gloves and watch strap. Other factors also considered.

If I am working outside or exercising, in all weather conditions… these ones… If I am working on the shooting range…the BR03. If it’s humid or raining, any of the above, plus these. If the conditions are absolutely perfect, meaning dry and with minimum physical effort, these… If I dress up… this one. I may change the strap. For special occasions, these ones. The Sky-Rocket will handle moisture! And I wear it a lot.

I just pick what I feel like wearing...it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Since I don't currently own a watch that can't be set in under two minutes , give or take a minute, I just pick one and say I will wear this one until the time comes I remember the others, and start thinking about one of those other watches and then I pull that watch out and clean her up a little, so she looks all shiny, and then do this same thing again in a few weeks.

Daily wrist shot on Instagram means I can keep track of what I've worn and make sure everyone gets their day out of the box

Believe it or not (and it’s sad to admit) I also consider the “safeness” of the area where I’m going and probability of having my watch robbed 🙁 it happens a lot next to where I live (Paris)…

I used to enjoy taking a few minutes to decide and set a watch but now I just take weather into consideration and if I’m run down I’ll grab a quartz. Often now I may get the watch ready the night before I think I will wear the old Waltham tomorrow but I’ll be damned if I have any clothing that matches this band

I just reach into the drawer-o-watches and anything I come out with will probably be fine.

I used to rotate 2-3 watches on a weekly basis but probably wore my Submariner 16800 the most. After I bought my Glashütte Original SeaQ, which is just mindblowingly good, I have worn that almost every day for the last 6 months. I wear jeans and a t-shirt at work on most days and all my watches work quite well with that outfit whether it’s the SeaQ, Datejust or Seiko Arnie.

When I'm in the mood to change, I change. The fibromyalgia has been pretty bad lately, and the heavier watches get painful after a while, so I've been wearing the older, smaller, lighter ones more often.

It really depends on my mood. What I am wearing, going to be doing and the weather certainly all play a factor as well. I still go into work but even on my days off I still wear watches at home. I am just weird I guess. I could literally stare at the dials all day long.

Guilt. I look at what I want to wear then at the ones I haven't worn in a while. Usually I wear the same favorites but when the guilt gets too strong I wear one from the unloved, which for me are mostly automatics.

Funny thing is, it still feels good to wear a watch that hasn't seen daylight in a few weeks.
