What Makes One Speedmaster Model More Water Resitant than Another?

You take great presumption on me that I am in fact an asshole.

No it took significantly less time as I would have had to look up that exact watch compare it against a list of things I know affect the WR then explain each feature and how it applies. In this case most likely about 4 paragraphs.

perhaps if you had spent some time to explain what your research had shown I might have taken more time.
My research has yielded nothing, hence why I posted my question here.

I did not call you an asshole, only pointed out that your response to my question was less than helpfull.

In any case I'm not here to argue about arbitrary matters, I'm here to get answers about water resistance.

If you have any relevant information which might enlighten me in regards to my question, I would be extremely appreciative.

If not then I bid you good day.

What you did do was post a list of features with no reference ... to their relation to water resistance.

Listing features is directly relevant, and in fact I think that this is the only help that you are likely to get, since there is no way to scientifically tease apart exactly how much each feature contributes to water resistance. The watch is manufactured, then it is pressure tested, then Omega decides how they want to market it.

Some of the guys on the forum man...

they come into a thread to say “look for the answer somewhere else, because I know the answer but it took me time to learn it, and I don’t have time to answer to this thread, specially because you’re a new member”

I don’t understand why they do that.

Good news is that not everyone is like that!

Also, the Rolex forum is a lot friendlier than this forum. I expected the exact opposite.

I'm not saying not to post features you think contribute to water resitance of a model in question, but it's more helpfull if you mention what watch you are reffering to when you list them, additionally it's even more helpfull if the features you list are actually present on the watch in question. I thought maybe there was an extra gasket or something along those lines I was unaware of. So by all means please list features you think contribute to the added water resitance, thats excactly the mystery I'm trying to solve!

You would certainly be in the minority if you think that.

In watch circles I have heard that Rolex owners are snobs and Omega aren’t.

I can kind of see how that is believable.

In real life though, I don’t know many watch people so can’t judge for myself, plus, I wouldn’t want to make a blanket statement based on a few people either.

However, Omega forum vs Rolex forum...

In my perspective, members here are a lot more snobbish and conceited than on the Rolex forum.

As I said though, not everyone falls under that statement.

Ive interacted with some very friendly and helpful members on both forums.

I have no problem whatsoever with RF, especially the vintage forum. But try going on RF and post in thread after thread about how much RF sucks and what dickheads the members are (the way you do here). Let's see how long you last. It's run in a very different way.

One suggestion for everyone...please...

When you are asking a specific question about a specific watch, list the Omega reference number of the watch, not just some description. There are hundreds of different Speedmasters and Seamasters out there, so for someone like me who is trying my best to help, don't make the job harder by having us search and guess for the exact model you are asking about - just list the reference number and we'll all be on the same page.

This one I found pretty quickly, but it still required me to Google the description, find a web page that talked about it, then check the reference number on the Omega Extranet, all hoping I had the right watch. I was lucky on this one, but honestly when someone says "current SMP" or some other such description, I just ignore it because I'm not going to try to figure out if "SMP" is Seamaster Professional, Speedmaster Professional, and what of the many "current models" of each there are out there. I'm not going to spend a 1/2 hour trying to figure out the watch before I even start trying to answer the question...

Cheers, Al

It’s possible that you’re the first person to ever say this. I don’t think it holds for anyone here, and very few on the Rolex forums.

I sincerely don’t get what your motivation would be to post a comment like this. Are you trying to endear people to you here by playing the role of the hurt, injured, sensitive member, or are you just trying to piss people off?

Unless I’m also wrong on this, no one is twisting your arm to continue here. If I’m incorrect, please post a photo...

The thread I made was just me standing up for myself.

I saw the same thing happening again and wanted to do the right thing and tell the OP that he’s not alone and that not all members are like that.

Yeah let’s see how long I last.

I’m not playing the victim.

I just think the way that some members reply to threads is lowly and disrespectful.

The OP noticed it and pointed it out, then the other member was trying to wash his hands of the act.

I pointed it out like I would in real life.

I’m here for the watches, that’s it. That’s why I’m still here.

And you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

True enough, but that goes for any internet forum.

What do you mean by this?

For the uninitiated.
Regular servicing means lots of sex😉

But only on the Omega forum, as Rolex now states a 10 year service interval and that's longer than Omega👍
Your results may vary though🙁

I would say the RF may be a little friendlier or should I say tolerant. That's because the modern era has brought some degree of conditioning.
Overall though I would say it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
What you lose on the swings you pick up on the roundabouts.

Just what ever you do, don't mention Newturfers here on this forum in terms of it being a positive experience like one can on the RF.
I did and I think I got away with it🫨
I believe someone who i respect(and shall remain nameless) was triggered🤔

You have to be kidding! I got banned for disagreeing with a mod who wants to live forever about standard black vs JC Deep Sea. Desk diving JC wearer couldn’t get over himself. I have never been on another forum where people want to show you everything they own in such a self congratulatory manner as TRF. Shoes, wallets, cars, hand luggage, you name it, they want to tell you they have it. I haven’t posted much here but find it much more subdued. I only wish some would get it that you can swim with Speedmasters and shower and wash dishes bla bla bla. 50m vs 100m who cares? most won’t even get them wet! See my avatar 😉

Just wondering what that makes me as I own both a Rolex and an Omega? Oh and for the record, I worked bloody hard to afford my luxury watches, bloody hard.

Actually, I would disagree, I find the OF members to be far more friendly and helpful, the Rolex Forum is quite a cold forum, very little humour, I get a lot more out of the OF forums and threads compared to the TRF, I enjoy and actively comment on both but prefer OF as it has better banter and humour.
