I have a few but were you to put a gun to my head and say you can keep only one, my near mint, 1956 37mm RG Uni would be the choice.

This thread is making me crave a Monodatic!

they are great, I find the waffle dials are especially dressy, of which I've had three, but none are with me any longer, they were a bit upscale for my country wardrobe.....

If I were to pick some time only dress options, these two would be on the list. The first model "Talisman" is an amazing gilt dial in a SS case, and the second has a beautiful and subtle deco dial in a very chunky solid 18K horn lugs case. Sadly both have moved on to new homes, 2020 was a big year for downsizing.....

I've posted it before but that won't stop me posting it again. Cal 332 rose gold ref 106544/2. Sharp facets, mirror/brushed dial and slim case make it my favourite dress watch

Wow! That is gorgeous.

Here's my UG (in for sale section atm). If I could find a rose gold one, I'd be keeping it! Can't get enough of rose gold 馃榾

Of the many UG that have passed through my hands, this Triple Date Moonphase is currently my favorite dress watch. With the dress watch category, it's obviously a chance to go for more flair and less practical, which is fun. Not worried about waterproof or a design that is less likely something I would choose to wear often.

The things I like about it are:

1) exotic case style
2) rose gold
3) two tone dial
4) art deco numbers, in foil, with deep copper color

For me, these work together to form a perfect dress watch. I only have one slight issue, at 34.5mm this is the smallest watch in my rotation. It works just fine for a dress watch, but I would love to have this exact style in 36-37mm case for a few weeks to compare and see which I prefer. On paper I like the bigger size, but who knows, in person, might prefer the smaller one.

The two tone dial and foil numbers are hard to catch in the light.......

It's in good overall condition, I like that the moonphase disc still has most of it's blue paint, which is a nice contrast to the rose gold case.

You can see this exact watch in the UG advert below. To date I have seen other examples in different color combinations, but never another one in this exact configuration. I hope there are more out there !

If I were to pick a second favorite, it would probably be this 14K yellow gold Tri. It was in my hands for about 5 minutes before my gf grabbed it for keeps 馃槈

You can see the color difference between the 18K rose and the 14K yellow here, although the color is more pronounced in person.

I think the combo with the vintage Fostner band was what really grabbed my gf, it was nice to see her fall for a vintage watch just as hard as me 馃榾

Anyhow, would love to see other examples of people's favorite dress UG, whatever that might be, please share 馃憤

Are there any hard and fast rules as to what constitutes a "Dress Watch"?
Time only?
Maximum case diameter?
Anything without a chronograph?
Precious metals only?
Anything but a Submariner? 馃槣

Is that some sort of hallmark on the back of the case above the numbers?
I see the gold hallmarks on the back of the lugs but I was wondering what that other mark is.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the hallmark on the back - it's not one I'm familiar with. Here's another, hopefully clearer, picture taken by @Mitka when he serviced it.

yah I remember this one, really special. Remind me the case size? This might be another of my all time personal favorites

34mm case so perfect for my pipe cleaner arms!

I have been giving my contribution to this thread careful thought. My completely arbitrary criteria for a good dress watch are; a modestly sized case, thin profile, elegant dial and simple time-only movement. I鈥檓 plumping for my Polerouter Jet in this configuration.

The mixed metals in the dial permit either gold or silver accessories with the rest of the outfit. It affords flexibility when dressed in anything between a sports jacket and a full morning suit.

Furthermore, I have even been asked about this watch occasionally when attending events. It is a handy conversation starter with non-watch geeks on an awkward table. The Microtor, the SAS Polar Route tale and the compelling globe engraving on the case back allow this watch to tell a story in polite company too. Honestly, what more could you need?

The Polerouter Jet is therefore my perfect UG dress watch; flawlessly designed in the right materials and dimensions, a compelling back story, seldom worn and yet still, somehow, present for all my biggest days.

Some great looking watches in this thread - I definitely need to learn more about UG Monodatics.

This straight lug RG Polerouter Deluxe Ref 10234-2 is one of my go-to dress watches. Sadly, with WFH over the past 10 months, I haven鈥檛 worn it enough recently as I haven鈥檛 had need to wear a suit in close to a year.
