I wonder if "availability" has increased for July 2024... after all 55th anniversary of Apollo 11 launch!

Omega will keep pumping them out with new versions. Yes, the initial hype has died down but there will be a demand of impulse buys when walking by the Swatch store. They grabbed a cross section of the market with the MoonSwatch. There's the FOMO group, swatch collectors, regular collectors, Speedie enthusiasts, etc. Some of the non Speedie owners with get converted down the line, it's a win-win.

I’ve seen a lot of moonswatches in the wild. Bought one to see what the hype was about and immediately sold it.

It’s horrible watch pound for pound.

This has been a master class in marketing from Omega. The power of this marketing will last a long time. My young nephew has the watch ‘Pluto’ he aspires when working to purchase his Dad’s version. This marketing genius will stand the test of time and Omega and Swatch will be laughing all the way to the bank.

The moonswatch, within its class of targeted customers & competitors, is a luxury good; i.e., targeted customers are generally splashing out for an expensive-to-them watch because they love the brand, history, and heritage of the moonwatch.

So, in that way, the end game of the MoonSwatch doesn't need to be any different than of the MoonWatch; it's similar luxury product marketing, just to different customer segments, of the brand & heritage.

As long as the punters keep buying them, they’ll keep making them

Exactly. The “endgame” is when they have saturated the market. As long as there are still buyers willing to pony up for each new release, I don’t think there is an endgame.

For 1/100th the price, I'm game 😀
And I won't ever forgive the clutter in my eBay searches (even with the -swatch flag)

I really like the moon phase white.

And I really like the red mission on earth with the radial dial.

But I own a mission to Mars and don't see myself buying either of the above

I've still never seen a moonwatch in the wild other than my own, but see tons of these Swatches. Seems like a good idea to keep selling them.

It really is a great entry level way to get people into watches and on the path towards an Omega, just as cheap quartz TAG Heuers brought my generation in, this is the first stepping stone for this generation and that’s pretty cool.

I wrote about about my thoughts on this here but I’m a big fan of the MoonSwatch https://stories.omegaforums.net/snoopy-moonswatch-mission-to-moonphase/

Nice option for those who want the moonphase without Snoopy, and with a similar color scheme to the Neptune.

My teenage son really liked his Mission to Mercury...until I put a (cheap - £3) rubber strap with deployant on the Neptune and then he took that as well as his daily.

Nice! Good to start them young before he gets any of your good watches

Our teenage sons can't get the ones they're looking for, not even at the special SWATCH shop near Omega HQ in Bienne
😕

While the moonswatches are not outstanding in terms of quality or value proposition, they are still fun and - for me - a welcome change for when I am in big European cities where the risk of getting robbed outweighs the enjoyment I get from wearing "nicer" watches

Ha! My son "borrowed" my Mission to Mars and was very annoyed when I wanted to wear it on a trip. He's off to Uni shortly and will, inevitably, taking it with him. Along with his PRX, it's the watch he gets the most comments on and enjoys wearing most.

I'm not crazy about the limited-access editions but at their best it's a fun take on a legend and does seem to be a gateway of sorts. The fact that the gateway is so far from the gate price-wise these days and may discourage many is really down to Omega.

I quite fancy the new Moonphase but am not queuing at midnight wearing a yellow parakeet on my shoulder or whatevs.
