I make knives… so basically collect expensive wood and Damascus and San Mai Steel from some of the best makers around the globe.

But I don’t actually collect knives, just buy a lot for research purposes.
Only this week…
Pure research 🧐
You should put up a thread with some of your projects. Ever do any kitchen knives?

@STANDY Do you export to UK? I have a few Atwood pieces.

Yes have a few sent to the UK.

Atwood used to be big in the EDC game (crazy collectors and pretty high prices on the secondary market IIRC), haven't seen much of he’s gear lately. Just looked and see he is still pretty active. And making mugs also 👍

Snap-together plastic scale models of aircraft...
I own two high-quality, vintage metal airplane models. Here's my favorite, a DC-7C, with Sabena livery:

Snap-together plastic scale models of aircraft... In the late 1990s and up to 2012 passengers were offered these onboard the airliner You were flying, so one could get the actual airplane. These were low-cost but superb models (US $ 20.00 as I recall) but nowadays a rarely seen thing onboard aircraft.
The SwissAir DC-4 is a more recent model which as I got as a gift...
.
FedEx sent me this good one when they stuffed me around…

Just won this in auction.

I've been after an Anders autograph for awhile. He didn't sign much so it is expensive when his autograph pops up.

This is the perfect piece in my mind. It has the iconic Apollo 8 Earthrise that changed the way the world viewed the planet. The photo was taken by Anders, making his signature on it perfect. The photo is also an official NASA lithograph, which is another special category for collecting.

Undedicated signatures are more expensive and more sought after by collectors, but I like inscribed signatures, as they are easier to authenticate, and cheaper. Anders signature can be a bit harder to authenticate because he didn't like signing and changed how he signed, as well as made sweeping strokes that were easier to fake. The dedication to a respected colleague is nice.

In summary, this Earthrise Lithograph signed by the man who took the photo is one of the best pieces to collect.
