What does this rolex look like? The scratch on the watch glass?

There's quite a wait list for new Rolex watches. Unless one has a good relationship with a Rolex AD.

I think what @Watch my Whisky was saying is that these acrylic crystals for this model are available.

Scratch, chip or crack, it’s easy and not very expensive to get a new crystal. My rule: Never let a crystal hold you back on a watch, if the rest of it is fine and the price is right.

Even with the crappy pictures, that looks to me like a better example than the first one you asked about. So it seems to me that you are making progress.

These older DJs are all over the place in condition, and swapped out dials/bezels (jewellers selling Rolex would happily do these swaps in the past).

Since the dial is what you’d be looking at every day, my advice is to look for one you find particularly appealing. Then go for condition (bezel and bracelet can be the best indicators), seller bona fides and price.

You are on the right track. Remember that your vintage Rolex DJ will not be new, nor perfect.

So I understand it's available for this acrylic model, right? And does anyone have any idea what price an original one would have?

It can't be very expensive. Rolex replaced the sapphire crystal on my wife's DJ last year and it was $133 for the crystal. A Rolex acrylic crystal should be somewhat less I would think.

I got one (acrylic) a few years ago for a vintage Air-King. About $70 USD then, likely more today.

Robert...putting aside the crystal...do you like the watch? Does it come as is, or with a warranty? Has it had any recent service? What is the asking price? Old acrylic crystals crack and shrink and get brittle with time. It is no big thing to source a genuine and correct model of Rolex crystal for that year and have it installed. If the watch has had no recent service that the seller knows of, then you should already know (or quickly find out) what one will cost...and add that into your budget for a watch. The gold and stainless steel models have been out of favor for the most recent years, but prices are firming up as the steel models continued to slowly rise in value. I'm a big fan of the two tone DateJusts. This watch is not "old." My newest Rolex is from 1975, the others are 1959, 1961, 1969...all work flawlessly and keep excellent time. I just spent $1005 for a complete service by one of the best indies I know of...former authorized Rolex Service Center. And that is not too much to have the watch in now perfect shape. We all know the old lesson...we get what we pay for. I hope something here has been helpful.

Robert, just saw your updated pics and posts. If you like it and can afford it, buy it and enjoy it. Never let fear or cynicism get between you and enjoying your life.

I left him a message with the question and the pictures, but he won't answer me because this weekend 🙁
And I wanted to ask an opinion here on the forum, what do you think? Is it just from pictures or is it a scratch?
I can't figure it out at all, because in some pictures it looks scratchy, and in some it seems like a reflection.

Again though, they’re terrible pictures - not at all in focus.

I’ll never understand how ‘dealers’ expect people to part with several thousand pounds/dollars on such terrible phone pics.

The watch has been serviced, comes with a 1 year warranty from the dealer, the price is approx. 5000e. I'm going to buy the watch, because I really like the way it looks and the condition it is in. 😀 Thank you all for your help and answers!
