Hello! What does this watch look like? It seems to me that it looks better than the previous one. But I don't understand one thing, exactly where I surrounded it ( red circle ), is it a scratch or is it because of the way the picture is taken?
I left him a message with the question and the pictures, but he won't answer me because this weekend And I wanted to ask an opinion here on the forum, what do you think? Is it just from pictures or is it a scratch? I can't figure it out at all, because in some pictures it looks scratchy, and in some it seems like a reflection.
We have the same pictures you do. It’s not possible to be certain from those pictures. These two tone datejusts are available any day of the week. If a seller can’t be bothered to provide decent pictures, move on to one who can.
I'll wait for the dealer to send me an answer about the glass. If it were scratched, I'd like to change it. Does anyone know if for such an old model, the original 16013 rolex? I mean, if I go to the dealership with him, could the people there put a new glass for me? And does anyone have an idea of an estimated price?
I wouldn’t be touching that at all. You need more than a handful of low res pics to even tell if its authentic and between the magnification, the crown, the bezel, and some dial details I’d be wanting a close look at the movement.
Also what’s the point buying from a dealer if you have to do work immediately after purchase, unless of course you’re buying at trade prices. If buying from a retail dealer a watch like this should be serviced and without obvious issues that require immediate attention.
If that’s a dealer and he’s providing those photos it’s the worst dealer I’ve ever seen. edit: ok well maybe not the worst… but not good
I'd better wait for more detailed pictures of him, and I'll see what the dealer tells me if he has something there or not.
I suspect the crystal has been severely polished in that area leading to unusual refraction and the appearance of a wonky minute track.
After all, would you have scratched it? I wouldn't mind if it's polished ... that's it. I'm just interested in not having that thing (scratch) in reality.
Looks to me like a crack, only the top part being visible. The rest of the crack extending down to the bottom edge of the crystal, behind the bezel where it doesn’t show. Scratches can often be polished out, but not cracks!
Acrylic cracking? As far as I know, only the sapphire breaks. I'll be back on Monday with detailed pictures, thank you. The watch it’s an 16013, which have acrylic glass.
You were under the impression that acrylic watch crystal don’t crack? If I am right about this “scratch” actually being a crack that extends downward, behind the bezel, then I’ll tell you that this type of crack on acrylic Rolex crystals is not a rare occurrence. However, it might appear that you know more about acrylic watch crystals than a guy who has been a watchmaker for 60 years, and a collector of Rolex watches for over 50! You appear to have come for advice, but you don’t accept it when it is given!
Of course acrylic crystals crack. What a strange thread. So much hand-wringing about a scratch/crack in a crystal on a >4k watch.
I accept what you tell me, I didn't say anything! I just asked, because that's how I knew it. Now I understand that acrylic also breaks. Eventually, I wait until Monday, when the dealer will send me the picture and a more complete video and I will personally ask him this aspect. I will come back here with the pictures he sent me, so that we can find out in the end. Thank you very much for the answers.
