·I edited the listing to say it was an older redo. If being a professional full time watch dealer makes me slime in the same way people assume all lawyers are slime, then sure, ok. I can say that I've had about 5000 transactions, have taken great care of people and am about the least slimy dealer I know (and I know most big dealers from a dozen years professionally in the business and having grown up in it with a watchmaker father). Trolls are the reason I avoid forums.
In defense of this watch I didn't need to disclose what was readily apparent from viewing it. I did now for clarity sake and to make it clear I'm not trying to screw anyone. What I ask and what I'd accept are different; likely I could sell this watch at a very fair price to someone who might have a good dial...it is a spectacular case that is unpolished and unmolested. There is a little bit of porosity around one of the lugs (wasn't welded). There is the beauty of the market: someone is out there who has that dial and needs a home for it. Regardless it is still a hell of a watch as it exists in spite of its dial. Do I wish it was original? Of course I do. But I take each piece as it comes.
And that's it. I'm fair and easy to deal with and no one who has dealt with me has any sort of horror stories. I bend over backwards for my customers and people who have met or dealt directly with me know that. I'm not looking to get into a flame war, and I'm really not looking to change anyone's opinion: if someone doesn't want to deal with me then they won't. But in general there are only two factor's that matter when dealing with watches: what the watch is and what the price is. Get those two things right and most people would deal with anyone.
