What do you think about this Constellation?

Hi everyone, first post here!

I'm just getting into vintage Omega after inheriting a 1960's Seamaster from my grandfather. Now I saw this Constellation that I'm interested in. However, it looks a bit off even to my untrained eye. The crown looks replaced to me, and the lugs seem different from other Constellations I have seen.

So what do you think?

Hi,
It all comes down to price and your expectations regarding condition. This one looks well polished, hence why the lugs look off. The dial has some spotting and it looks generally grubby. Apart from the crown it does seem correct.
Regardless of price it would be a miss from me.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. It is for sale on a local auction site for €375. But if the condition is that bad maybe you're right and I should look further. Thanks for the help!

as like many older watches that have seen the expected use and abuse from decades of wear, it all comes down to price. nothing wrong with buying and enjoying an old used watch as long as the price is right. I would happily buy and wear that watch for $250 to $300. every vintage watch doesn't have to be a drawer queen to have fun in this hobby.

Actually that’s not a bad price, but you’ve got to ask yourself would you be happy with the condition. Personally I would rather invest x3 that amount and get something I would be proud to wear.

Well worth the €375 IMO if you don’t mind the patina/spotting on the dial.

@Sneorej: Just as an FYI, this type of case, coated in gold with steel showing on the backs of the lugs is called "gold-capped".

375 is not bad at all, of course if it stays there...

I would like to add judging from these not so good photos, that the dial is in really nice condition though.. You can get 200 only for the dial...

Not sure if the "grubby" dial seems that way due to the poor condition of the crystal.

The crown looks like an Omega replacement for the semi-recessed versions which are no longer made.

If you can get it for EUR350, that's a decent buy. Pay more than that, you might be upside down after paying for a service and new crystal.

These typically go for considerably less than the bent-lug Ref. 167.005 or 168.005.

You are a HERO @Shabbaz ! Can you please provide details of that seller? I've also come across too many scammers on Markplaats and I stopped checking there.
