Very keen for some feedback on this, particularly from users of non-Google search engines.

We have always focused on Google first, but with their recent changes they seem to be alienating a lot of people, especially older users so I'm curious as to how many people are using options like:

Bing
Yahoo
DuckDuckGo
Brave
Ecosia
etc

Firefox - curious why it was not listed in the original list of choices?

Firefox is the browser rather than the search engine, from memory the default search for Firefox is google unless you change it to something else, so if you just type in the bar, you get google by default

I think there are also lots of people that use AI for searching these days
Yea that's a valid point too and we are catering to that, but I'm also more interested in non-google usage of traditional search as Trev and I are very much tech world guys where google rules the roost so a great extent, so I want to get a more international and less tech industry specific perspective

Google. But I'm a bit pissed off with the continual nagging to use Chrome.
I'll stick with Safari on my mac and maybe use a different search engine, depends on recommendations from other users.

I’m old and grey and the only one on Ecosia so far, feeling lonely.

Use Safari mainly but if I am downloading/streaming sports/film or tv from ‘other sources’ I use a vpn and Firefox/google.

Me too - it was already on my iPad and iPhone when I got them - and I never thought to bother with any other

As above, as a Mac user (iPhone, iPad, Macbook) my default is Safari - but as a browser, that just takes you to Google.

Just changed my Safari search engine to DDG.
I'll see how it goes.

DuckDuckGo and only that for over ten years, 15 years, I guess.
Is it fair to say the quality of results for OF on DDG has been pretty bad thus far? It uses the same index as bing which we largely ignored as it didn't seem that relevant but looking at the results so far that seems to have been a mistake on our part

Duck Duck Go for a long time now. I would still use Metacrawler if it were a choice.

I don't know what you're asking.

I use DDG to go to OF. Then I use OF search for specific OF content.
what am I using?

I can say that the search results often are incomplete, as I might know a word or two of a thread I want but can't remember the exact title. I sometimes can't find the thread.

Just in general what browser you use, not specific to OF, were going to put a lot of effort into properly supporting all the Bing related search engines including DDG, Yahoo and Exosia

I just didn’t know people that used these search engines so I wanted a broader perspective from the community as we probably miss a lot of people currently

Google with an added parameter "udm=14" which turns off AI. Firefox accepts this as a custom default search engine.

As an aside does anyone remember Euroferret around 2000? It was being developed in the same office as I was working. It worked rather well at the time, but there was no budget for publicity 😡

I use a saved link to navigate to OF on all my devices which all use DDG browsers; Android, Windows laptop. I use OF search to search OF. If I search general watch stuff, DDG seems to offer more than a few results from OF, more than WUS generally, if a thread exists. I've used the DDG search engine in Firefox, and then Pale Moon for a very, very long time and started using the DDG browser as soon as it became available for Windows. I used Firefox, Dolphin, then Brave for some time on Android, using the DDG search engine with all of them. Now it's DDG search engine and browsers for everything, Brave as a backup but still using DDG search. I also use Mullvad browser occasionally.
