Omega Seamaster $600 PloProf: Originality and Value Advice

Even though your example is pretty beat up it retains it's sharp case lines, original bezel and the dial and hands have a nice faded patina. I think with a good service of the movement, new crystal and a good case clean it will come up really nice. It also has a correct 1162 which is good.

I think value wise I'd say as is €4K-€4.75K and if it was sympathetically restored a bit and serviced €6K+

Do not let anybody polish the case. Just a clean.

Very cool Ploprof. Looks pretty nice and original to me. You can look at ebay to see what values look like. Hard to see the dial exactly, but it does look pretty nice.

I would sell it without servicing it. Someone might really dig its current state.

Beautiful watch, it’s a very honest example.
All authentic and original, this watch has a soul.

All parts except the bracelet are original.
Dial is the mk4 latest dial, from 1975 until the end of the run. The dial looks in excellent condition. Dark blue almost purple which is correct for this dial and the vanilla lume looks beautifully warm. Bezel is a flat top 3 that matches the period of the dial. Heavily patinated bezel with a bang around the 17 minute mark. U shape case is correct too. Looks in unpolished condition except for the circular brushing on the caseback. Original hands, seconds hand probably doesn’t light up anymore which is fine. Red pusher has a small hole in it it seems. Bracelet is period correct but it’s the 1162/172 endlinks for a 22mm mark III or flightmaster. This watch is 24mm.

There is no point polishing the case with a bezel like this. I would keep the watch as is, only search for a tight period correct 1162/162 (11) on eBay and a vintage red pusher. Then have the watch serviced and see if the crystal can be cleaned and if it’s still in good shape. As long as there are no deep scratches on the crystal I’d keep it. And keep the hands. Please don’t replace any of the visible parts of the watch with service parts, they are completely different and (for me personally) ruin the aesthetics of the watch.

I don’t agree with the statement of pdxleaf that that one suggested is in a better condition. This one is much more authentic and original than that.

The case of that example is heavily overpolished, it has a way too shiny service red pusher and it has a way too shiny polished service crown (should be brushed). And the drop 600 dial should probably have a 3198xxxx or 3200xxxx movement instead of a 3310xxxx which could be swapped.



Please retain the soul of your beautiful vintage watch.
