What do we know about Omega "Rocket Line" pendulettes?

So I got myself a second 5556 ! Sadly the movement was replaced at some point by a "Made in Germany" Quartz (UTS ?)...pretty smartly done though since the date change is functional. Still looks the part and doesn't make a wuzzing sound every 20 minutes ;-)
I looked into getting a donor but might keep it like that now as a "beater" of sorts.

As a side note these "rockets" are seldom seen aren't they !

I got a few and I love the look and the heft. I couldn't care less if they didn't work 😁
Definitely not something that can be found easily.

There was one on eBay a while ago, the date wheel was stuck. I'd definitely love to own one too if customs in Turkey wasn't a drag

It was the black / gold version, a beauty, was EXTREMELY affordable too - I don't think it was noticed since it was France-only

Thanks, wow, that was a bit of a bargain, if only as a beautiful object as it was non working.

Hello everyone,
I am the one who bought this 5562 listed on eBay that "Kaplan" showed just above.
I must admit, those clocks are really adictive🥰 They have something special for sure !

As advertise by the vendor, this clock was not working at all. Date misaligned and stuck between 2 dates.

The caliber inside is this so-called Omega 095, also known as the IMHOF ref.42.EL.3.
This caliber was produced under a Concord Watch Co. licence. The Omega version is nicely made (way better than the base-caliber!).
This is a real pleasure to work on those movement. They are well engineered, well made, finished and beautifully assembled.

Mecanically they are quite simple. The electric winding system seats on the top of the standard mecanism.

Usually, if the winding section fails, it is mainly due to the 3 following reasons :
* Electrical contact issues
* Contactor disc wearing
* Broken upper pivot
By chance, every thing appared to be quite clean and functional during the desassembly !

The most difficult would be to have a broken rotor (quite common on those).. I have few parts in my personnal stock and always a way to remanufacture a new part if needed..
but gald I could save all original parts here !

Digging further on the date side now, it is clearly understandable why the date was complety stuck..
The date jumper is "glued" to the date plate, and the rust made a good job on few springs and wheels !

Let's clean everything futher. Pivots, jewels, springs, screws...etc. needed a good clean ! Each part was full an old-greasy/muddy layer..
My old Record/Elma Cleaning machine did again a good job here ! 😀
Clean parts go to the service box then.

Assemlying everything back is nothing difficult. A good lubrication and working inspection under the microscope confirmed that everything is looking good now. 👍

Complete assembly and first testings. OMG ! This winding "Bzzzzzzz" sound is quite loud I must say ! Not a clock to keep in the bedroom for sure !
The contact disc and contactors should be indexed. If the indexation is not correct, the mainspring will run out of power before the new winding cycle !
Anyway, after a bit of tooth counting and inspection, it is easy to find the adequat setting.
Regulation and control on the timegrapher shows healthy performances.
A bit of finishing work and this beauty is now pointing to the moon (as they said), and fully working 🥰

Cheers.

Rudy

I posted on this thread back in 2020, at the time the Teal version 5572 had not been seen. Luckily I was able to find one.
Here I am 3 years later, never seen another since….
Until last week when I was lucky enough to buy another!
So, here is the second one.

Reviving this thread!
Found one of those 095 caliber clocks in working condition. Sent the steel base to a carshop for repaint, since it had a few bad scratches.
My watchmaker did regular maintenance and now it keeps time and changes date as it should.

My only doubt is the frequency of the spring is charged, I hear it wind up every 2h approx. Is this normal?

Ok, so after promising myself no more projects for a while I bought unseen from an auction this beautiful Omega electro mechanical cal 095 clock....on arrival non-running. So hoping for the best I took it to my WM ( who has never seen/worked on one of these ) to see what he could do. He has just reported back to say that it is missing 3 parts:

095-1653 contactor friction spring
095-1654 contact assembly
095-1655 contactor wheel

These are parts crucial I think to the mechanised winding system.

Does anybody have a lead or tips on where to find these parts? I belive the base calibre is the Imhof ref.42, are the parts interchangable?

Hi Christos, Great find ! Looks in beautiful condition.
Chasing parts is not an easy thing on those calibres. Parts are not manufactured anymore. I can only recommend to look around on ebay. You can search for other brands as well (Concord, Imhof...etc.). Good luck with the treasure hunt !
