What do we know about Omega "Rocket Line" pendulettes?

These clocks are awesome, thanks for posting! They look like they should be on the dash of a mid 20th century sports car. Now there’s something else that I’m going to have to keep an eye out for 😵‍💫
Interestingly I think these work just like the VDO Kienzle clock out in my 60's Mercedes-Benz. It's powered by the car's battery but that only winds the clock for a about a 5-minute interval, so every 5-minutes there's an audible "click" as the mechanism begins the next round. The only issue that really ever causes them to break is a tiny in-line fuse that melts or if the nickle plating wears off the contacts.

Had it for about two months and sold it off for the same amount of money because I couldn't stand hearing a watch ticking during night...
Was it the actual ticking every second or the "winding" function every few minutes as I as described above?

Now, that you brought up the winding mechanism, it might have been exactly this. Totally forgot about that happening.

I just remember taking the watch apart every night and removing it's battery because this thing extremely annoyed me.

Anyone experienced shorter battery life with these? Any ideas, if that is an indication of an underlying problem? Kind regards. Achim

I have 6-7 of those pendulettes now and all of them have been running 6+ months on the same battery. I think the oldest one is approaching 1 year.

The only difference I've noticed from one pendulette to another is the noise produced by the winding system.

Try to measure the time between two windings - maybe it's not a battery leak but just an adjustment required in winding sequences.

Will do. So, the sequence Intervall can be adjusted? Good to know. Thanks for that. Kind regards. Achim

Found the reason for that eratic behaviour on my black/white model: the 9 volt battery sits on top of the movement in a U shaped battery holder. The minus contact is provided to the brass movement , which is encased in a clear plexy , screw down cover via 2 slightly pointed discs. These 2 discs make contact with the brass bridges. If these screws are wrong or not really fastened or the 2 contact discs are oxidised, the contact is eratic ; can stop the clock's winding mechism and mechanical handling and minimal pressure can restart the clock and you never find out, why. 2 thin metal pieces added between the top bridge and the battery minus setup make the contact 100 % again..... Fixed . Kind regards. Achim

I bought another one as well......From a small clock shop in central France. Is on its way to Australia in the moment. Was searching for another spare part and found out, that there are no parts left in the Factory.... Nowhere to find..... Time to find a watchmaker somewhere on the planet, who can fix problems/ has parts left for the electrical winding system. My watchmaker is still evaluating, how to manufacture a new wheel with the spring loaded contact , which looks like a safety pin . and connects the minus to the excenter wheel, that starts and stops the winding process.... Therefore I looked for a new clock, just in case..... And found it . Fortunately for half price than the eBay ones.

My watchmaker (Romain from https://www.atelier-h13.ch/) can service and fix them, no problem. He also had to manufacture a couple of parts to repair one of my clocks.

Problem is that apparently nobody thought that the mechanical part of the movement requires servicing exactly like a mechanical watch. So if that clock was running dry for a decade, it might well be that some parts now have to be exchanged...

But we’re in Switzerland 😉

I have a redundant 5556 that’s just back from a full service and the warranty will follow the watch 😀 might be yours quickly if you don’t mind one different digit in the ref 😁

Great , if nothing can be done here, I will contact him. It is just the electrical section, that needs attention. All mechanical parts are easy to service. Kind regards. Achim
