I agree. I'm in the Seattle area and have not found a independent watchmaker....I had a guy in alaska that did for me but he retired back to Europe
With the picky eating kid, I don't get to many restaurants that would be worth a special trip. Wildfin in Issaquah was good if you like seafood, it's borderline between the nice end of casual but still relaxed enough that you can take a child. Good fish and shellfish for the grown-ups but also offers burgers for the young ones.
I'll second Nesbitt's. http://www.nesbitswatchservice.com They're professional and friendly and their work is excellent. They are open regular hours and they get to the work reasonably promptly, not many months later. They do charge more than I read about some watchmakers in other parts of the country, prices are closer to Omega service charges, but unlike Omega they understand vintage and won't go replacing parts just because they show their age. They're a family of watchmakers, on their 4th generation now. Another watchmaker of the family works at the Tourbillon boutique a couple of blocks away.
Fine dining I would recommend Canlis (Seattle) or Café Jaunita (Kirkland - Italian). Casual I would reccomend Steelhead Diner (right in Pikes Place Market - great seafood and the best crab cake I've had). All three places I highly reccomend making a reservation. Millers Guild (Seattle) is also really good.
This definitely needs a bump!
Great idea! It looks like I am the first pin in Oklahoma, my city also may not meet the idea many of you have for a city.
