What average rate should you be happy with on META calibers?

If "zero" is perfect, then -1 is closer to zero than +3 is. Or as someone's spouse here tells him " 'cause math "...😉
Of course!

Lol! Point taken!

I think of Chevy Chase’s rendition of Gerald Ford, “my understanding is that there would be no math”!

Dear, sir.

Even mine with old but trustworthy Omega 1151 based on Valjoux 7751 starts to lost 10 seconds per day and I am satisfied enough because I was wearing everyday and it runs everyday for now 5 years since I purchased it. Although it is not super fancy METAS CHRONOMETER grade movement, I still don't mind it much.

It is normal for mechanical watches. But if you want something so damn accurate, I suggest you invest to buy one of the George Daniels pocket watches. His best rate is something like +/- 1 second per month.

Other that, buy quartz and I am apologize for my silly quartz answer to you, sir.

Very Sincerely Yours.

Nachman

Reading this entire thread has me pretty excited. Just bought my first Omega SMP Diver 300m (my first "luxury watch") and have been wearing it pretty much 24/7. I've noticed that it gains about +.75 seconds per day. Less than a second gained on the wrist per day.... I also got a pretty unique serial number that the Omega Boutique sales reps got a kick out of. Basically along the lines of "82XYXYXY"

People seem upset at the initial question because that was the OP's first post. Although I always think new posters that come in with initial questions like this is a bit odd, even provocative, the question itself isn't out of bounds, we talk about accuracy all the time here. Personally, I don't worry about it since I usually don't wear a watch more than 5-7 days before changing out to something else. I never fiddled around with testing the rate in various positions overnight, that's just too much effort for me. If others like to do that as part of the hobby, that's fine. But the industry has talked up accuracy more and more over the years.....COSC, METAS and in-house rate guarantees abound because of better tolerances, silicon hairsprings, more stable balances and other aspects. So what would be my limit if I was concerned about it? A minute a month for a mechanical watch has been considered a very good rate for over a half-century, I still think that is a pretty good benchmark, Rolex now specs their movements as +/- 2 sec/day as adjusted internally even though it only has a COSC base rating. So I would expect an Omega METAS movement to be in that range in the real world. Whether they are or not I have no idea.
My Meta is running + 1.2s/d average. never om the minus side. So Im happy with that. That being said, I whould not mbe happy if it was +5s/d!!

Dude...It's customary and courteous to introduce yourself BEFORE barging in on this forum. I suggest you read your post once more. You're asking what "should" we expect, then you state that those rates "would" not make you happy even if they are within specs of the manufacturer because you paid a lot of money for a mechanical watch.

WTF? Like you have practiced that skill inn this tread.

Give me a break. My Caliber 8900 is running average 1.2s/d and Im happy with that. If it was 5s/d I would not!

Omega would certainly ship a watch that METAS tested at +5s/d.

If you are not happy about paying 6k for a product at Omega's standard, then perhaps it's time to buy another product.

Get a Rolex superlative chronometer.

Now, why would I do that? Not in one of my post have I been not happy with what i have.

I don't agree This is not the king's court where we ought to bow and show deference. What does it matter if he is Bob from New York? You join, you ask an honest question, and you should get an honest answer.

Well for some it is 😀

The point is that both +1.2s/d and +5s/d are within spec. Both are acceptable because both fall into the range that Omega set out to achieve.
