I'm traveling to Tokyo in a few months. I hope to find a Seiko UFO Chronograph to replace the one I owned that was stolen from my home many years ago. I thought it would be fun visiting the many watch stores in Japan.

That sounds like a fun trip. I'm hoping I can finally visit Japan next year or the year after. Hopefully my family will put up with me using 1-2 days for watch hunting.

Thank you. I was heartbroken with the theft of my Seiko UFO because it was a gift from my parents. We're going to spend eight days in South Korea and seven days in Japan. I've watched some videos and the pre-owned watch stores in Japan look amazing.

Those old Seiko chronographs are cool. I like the UFO. I have a Bullhead with the same 6138 automatic movement. If you have any pictures of the UFO from when you had it I'd love to see it. I've never shopped for watches in Japan but I bet there are treasures galore. Dangerous!

That's a bummer. Which version of the UFO did you have?

South Korea is great too! I did a study abroad there when I was in college. I miss easy access to Korean BBQ.

Come to think of it... My wife is Filipino... Maybe we can do a three country tour of Japan, Korea, and the Philippines and eat all the regional BBQ variations.

Love Korean BBQ....It was a 1970s Seiko 6138-0011 Chronograph. It's a really cool watch. OF member Walrus has a really nice Seiko UFO that he's posted.

My wife and I are going with my son and his girlfriend who's from South Korea to meet her parents. When we were invited to join them, I suggested we spend a week in Japan. If anyone has information on some good pre-owned watch stores in Seoul I'd appreciate it.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of my UFO. My parents gave me the watch in 1976 and it was stolen from my home in 1991.

Finished my purchases for 2025 recently, excited to say. After a few years of net reduction (no acquisition), this was the year to ease back into adding. Two affordable watches (Citizens), Damasko DA36 (discontinued finally found when ready to buy), two more dressy watches that lean a bit upscale for my generally mediocre collection. Both are discontinued, so it took some time to find good examples up for grabs. Last one arrived yesterday.

Now, started saving for next year. My watch purchases (except for the Zenith, an anniversary gift) come out of my fun fund. It requires me to think about adds and save. A failsafe approach after years of impulse buys without rules 😉

Well, mine was complete February 1 when I got my Snoopy 50. I have managed to resist any more purchases in 2025 even though I really want a 3576.50 moonphase. Just couldn't pull the trigger on one, all the others are finally paid for.

Mine was to acquire a 220 bezel Speedmaster, the result of which I posted here. https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-first-classic-speedy.188384/post-2547154

I don’t usually have intentional goals for collecting but sometimes something draws me in and if the right factors happen to align the right way then I end up with a new watch.

I’m actually happy to move on from thinking [sometimes obsessing] about a specific acquisition, and I’ll likely turn my focus back to enjoying the watches I have. Also, if I don’t have a specific goal to budget for I can perhaps be a bit more open to fun, slightly impulse [if inexpensive] acquisitions if any come up.

Funky Seikos, anyone?

I'm pushing to save as much money as I can to try and get my first Speedy. Right now, I can't justify the spend until my family and I move into our forever home and are comfortable. Having the money on the back-burner waiting to be spent on a Speedy one day is the plan. In the meantime, I have a cheaper Moonswatch (don't judge - it's the closest I can get to the "real" thing) to tide me over.
That is a good plan. Priorities. Watches will come and go. Have to be comfortable for the family. I love my moonwatch as much as my moonswatch.

I've stuck to it. I actually had an opportunity to buy a current gen Speedmaster (Sapphire Sandwich) for £4200, but I don't think Vinted is a great place to buy from. The seller was genuine, and they offered a meet-up, and the photos and videos sent over looked to be great... but I had to think with my head over my heart. Furthermore, I'm debating whether to invest the money in a vintage model down the line - perhaps a 145.012-67/68. But, the world of vintage models is so vast, that I don't really know enough about them (yet). Buying from somebody on here with a reputation may well be on the cards, at some point.

Spedmaster101.com is your best guide for vintage speedys. There are so many out there. Read up and decide on a winner and start the search. I like the early 90s apollo xi models. I had one and stupidly sold it. Now they are 2x the price.

I'm all over it, and @Spacefruit's sales website SpeedmasterSales. Also looking at Darren's VintageSpeedmaster @DLT222 website and socials. I am slowly learning, but lots to take on board yet!

I thought I was done for the year, but jomashop keeps giving me coupons and text messages and it's weakening my resolve...

But, I just checked what I said a year ago in this thread:

Seiko 6117 navigator
Seiko 6105-8119
Omega X-33 Solar Impulse
a Flightmaster
Whatever Sinn limited edition pops up that I can't say no to.
If I luck into a Windfall, a Ploprof or a really expensive LE speedy of some kind.

One of those happened!

I almost picked up a Seiko 6117 a couple times, but got outbid. Sinn, mercifully, didn't release anything super exciting for me this year.

Not a very exciting year for acquisitions, but on the bright side I believe that I did sell more than a dozen watches this year. So I successfully let some go.
